No. Only unmarried male candidates are eligible to apply for Agniveer (Apprentice) 01/2027 and 02/2027 Batch. Female candidates are not eligible for this recruitment.

For the 01/2027 Batch, candidates must be born between 01 December 2004 and 31 May 2009 (both dates inclusive). For the 02/2027 Batch, candidates must be born between 01 May 2005 and 31 October 2009 (both dates inclusive). Candidates born between 01 Dec 2004 – 31 Oct 2009 are eligible to appear in INET 2/2026.

Candidates must have passed Matriculation (Class 10th) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognised Board, and must have completed a 3-year Diploma course from an AICTE-recognised Polytechnic Institute with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in any of the eligible Engineering or Electrical diploma trades.

Agniveers receive a monthly in-hand amount of ₹21,000 in Year 1, increasing to ₹28,000 in Year 4. Additionally, 30% of the monthly package is contributed to the Agniveer Corpus Fund, with a matching contribution by the Government of India. On completion of the 4-year engagement, Agniveers receive a one-time Seva Nidhi of ₹10.04 Lakhs. There is no gratuity or pension entitlement.

The selection process consists of: Stage I – INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test, computer-based, 100 questions, 1 hour); followed by Stage II comprising Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Written Examination, and Recruitment Medical Examination; and finally a Pre-Enrolment Medical Examination at INS Chilka before induction. All stages are mandatory and qualifying.

Yes. There is a penalty of 0.25 marks (one-fourth) deducted for every wrong answer in the INET examination. Candidates must pass in all sections as well as in aggregate. The Indian Navy reserves the right to determine the pass marks in each section and in aggregate.

The examination fee for Stage I – INET is ₹550/- plus 18% GST, payable online via net banking, credit card, debit card, or UPI. There is no separate fee for the Stage II process. Fee once paid is non-refundable under any circumstances. Sponsor candidates and NCC 'C' Certificate holders are exempted from Stage I – INET and are directly issued call-up letters for Stage II.

On completion of the 4-year engagement, up to 25% of each specific batch of Agniveers may be offered an opportunity to apply for permanent enrolment in the Indian Navy as Artificers (Sailors, Regular Cadre) on completion of induction training. Selection is based on objective criteria including performance during the 4-year engagement period and is entirely at the discretion of the Indian Navy. Agniveers have no right to claim permanent enrolment.

The minimum height standard is 157 cms. For the Physical Fitness Test, male candidates must complete a 1.6 km run within 6 minutes 30 seconds, 20 squats, 15 push-ups, and 15 bent knee sit-ups. Visual standards require uncorrected vision of 6/12, 6/12 and corrected vision of 6/6, 6/6 with Colour Perception CP PASS. Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on the inner face of forearms and back of the hand; tattoos on any other part of the body will lead to disqualification. Candidates with gender reassignment surgery will be declared UNFIT.
