Bihar Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 Notification Out - Apply Online for 3687 Posts

The Bihar State University Service Commission (BSUSC), Patna has released Notification No. BSUSC/CAP-01 to 06/2026 dated 3 July 2026 for the recruitment of Contractual Faculty (Assistant Professor) in various subjects, in the context of an order issued by the Higher Education Department, Bihar.

Candidates must note the following schedule carefully, as the Commission has advised that all dates be strictly followed. The Admit Card for the interview will be made available on the SAMARTH portal, and candidates are advised to regularly check the portal using their login credentials.

A total of 3,674 vacancies have been notified across six subjects and ten universities of Bihar. The subject-wise vacancy break-up is given below. An additional 13 backlog posts have also been notified, taking the grand total to 3,687 posts. Detailed subject-wise, category-wise, and university-wise vacancies are provided in Annexure-I of the official notification, covering the following ten universities: Patliputra University (PPU), Veer Kunwar Singh University (VKSU), Magadh University (MU), Munger University (Mun.U), Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU), Purnea University (Pur.U), Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University (BNMU), Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU), Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University (BRABU), and Jai Prakash University (JPU).

Candidates should have a good academic record throughout, with a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent grade) at the Master's degree level. A 5% relaxation in marks is available for SC/ST/BC (Non-Creamy Layer)/EBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates of the state, and for physically challenged persons of Bihar; however, both relaxations cannot be combined for the same candidate. In addition to the Master's degree, candidates must satisfy one of the following conditions: NET/SLET/SET is not required for Master's programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted by UGC, CSIR, or a similar accredited body. The monthly remuneration for the contractual appointment shall be equivalent to the minimum monthly gross salary (Basic + DA only) of a regularly appointed Assistant Professor at the entry level.

Selection is based on a total of 100 marks, comprising Academic Qualification (88 marks) and Interview-cum-Demonstration (12 marks). Candidates must convert Grade/CGPA/CPI into percentage using only the official conversion formula/table approved and published by the concerned board or university. Shortlisting for interview is done in the ratio of 1:3, i.e., up to three candidates per notified vacancy will be called for interview, subject to availability of eligible candidates. Reservation benefits under this recruitment are available only to native domiciles of Bihar. Candidates from other states will be treated as Unreserved/General category, irrespective of their caste or reservation status in their home state. Every selected candidate must submit a duly notarized affidavit at the time of joining, affirming that all furnished information and submitted documents are true, genuine, complete, and correct. If any information is later found false, misleading, suppressed, fabricated, or any document is found forged or invalid, the candidate's engagement/appointment shall be liable for immediate termination without prior notice, along with possible legal or disciplinary action.

All educational qualifications must have been obtained from recognised Universities/Institutions in India and/or abroad.
