Online applications for BTSC Food Safety Officer Recruitment 2026 started on 25 September 2026. Candidates must submit the application form and required supporting documents by 24 October 2026 through the official BTSC website.

The Bihar Technical Service Commission has advertised 105 Food Safety Officer vacancies, including 105 regular posts and 34 backlog posts. The notification provides separate category-wise vacancy distributions. The notification provides 35% horizontal reservation for eligible women who are original residents of Bihar. It also identifies disability-related reservation and other horizontal reservation provisions under the applicable state rules. Candidates claiming reservation must possess the relevant Bihar domicile, caste, non-creamy-layer, EWS or disability certificates in the prescribed format.

Applicants must possess a recognized Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree in one of the following notified disciplines, as applicable: Food Technology Dairy Technology Biotechnology Oil Technology Agricultural Science Veterinary Science Biochemistry Microbiology Chemistry Food Science Medicine The notification also recognizes certain degree specializations under Food Technology and Agricultural Science. The minimum age required for BTSC Food Safety Officer Recruitment 2026 is 21 years as on 1 August 2026. The maximum age varies by category. Age Reckoning Date: 01 August 2026. Eligible Persons with Disabilities: 10 years of relaxation in the maximum age limit. Eligible Bihar Government employees with at least three years of qualifying continuous service: 5 years of relaxation, subject to the notification conditions.

The Food Safety Officer post carries Pay Level 6 under the revised Bihar Government pay structure. The notification also specifies unrevised Grade Pay Rs. 4,200 under Pay Band 2.

The Bihar Technical Service Commission has prescribed an application fee of Rs. 100 for the recruitment. The payment must be completed online. Applications without the required fee payment will not be considered. The application fee is non-refundable.

Selection for the Bihar Food Safety Officer posts will be based on a Computer Based Written Examination. Candidates will also have to fulfill the prescribed eligibility and document verification requirements. Computer Based Test: Eligible candidates will appear for an objective-type competitive examination. Preparation of Results: Marks will be normalized if the examination is conducted in multiple shifts. Document Verification: The Commission will verify educational, age, reservation and other supporting certificates.

The BTSC FSO written examination will consist of 100 objective-type questions for 100 marks. The examination duration is two hours. Each incorrect answer will result in a deduction of 0.25 marks. Applicants must secure the applicable minimum qualifying marks to remain eligible for consideration. Merely securing the qualifying marks does not guarantee selection.

The BTSC Food Safety Officer CBT will be based on the Food Safety Officer examination syllabus prescribed by the Bihar Health Department. The Commission has stated that the syllabus will be published separately on its official website.
