The BPSSC has advertised a total of 65 vacancies for the post of Gulm Samadeshak (Company Commander) under the Bihar Home Guard Service Cadre. Of these 65 posts, 35% are horizontally reserved for women (applicable only to female domiciles of Bihar state). Additionally, 2% posts are reserved for grandchildren/great-grandchildren of Bihar State freedom fighters (those receiving pension from the Central Government). Note: The 2% reservation for freedom fighters' descendants is carved out within the above category-wise distribution. The selection for the Bihar Home Guard Company Commander post is conducted through three stages: a Preliminary Written Exam, a Main Written Exam, and a Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Only candidates who clear each stage proceed to the next. The overall recruitment process is expected to take approximately 6 months from the close of applications. The Preliminary Exam consists of 1 paper of 200 marks with 100 objective (multiple-choice) questions to be completed in 2 hours . Questions cover General Knowledge and Current Affairs. Candidates scoring below 30% marks in the Preliminary Exam will be declared ineligible for the Main Exam. The appointing authority for the post of Gulm Samadeshak (Company Commander) is the Deputy Inspector General–cum–Deputy Commandant General, Bihar Home Guard, Patna , as per the mandate received from the General Administration Department, Bihar Government.

Selected candidates will be appointed at Pay Level-6 under the Bihar Home Guard Service Cadre. The exact pay matrix amount at Level-6 follows the state government's 7th Pay Commission structure applicable to Bihar state employees. In addition to the basic pay at Level-6, selected candidates will receive other allowances as applicable to Bihar state government employees.
