Coal India has announced three General Manager vacancies in its Renewable Energy and Thermal Power verticals. All three vacancies are in E8 Grade and are notified under the Unreserved (UR) category.

For applicants from the private sector, the notification prescribes a minimum CTC of Rs. 52 lakh per annum in the last financial year. This is a private-sector eligibility condition. Government and PSU applicants are assessed under the relevant grade and pay-scale equivalence requirements specified in the notification.

Yes. Government and PSU candidates can apply if they meet the prescribed educational qualification, experience and grade-equivalence requirements. For the notified posts, the additional grade requirement includes a minimum of 2 years in the immediately lower grade under the applicable DPE-notified IDA pay scale, or the corresponding prescribed Government/CDA equivalence. Coal India has prescribed rules for calculating qualifying experience. Experience is generally counted from the date of acquiring the required engineering degree. Internships and summer/winter training during studies do not count. Ad-hoc, contractual, officiating and ordinary trainee service do not count. Regular Management Trainee, Executive Trainee or Graduate Engineer Trainee service that subsequently leads to absorption in a regular cadre may be counted. Actual service across multiple organizations may be combined. Employment gaps are not counted as experience.

The upper age limit is 55 years as on 7 October 2026, the notification date. The notification date is also the cut-off date for determining minimum qualification and experience.

The General Manager posts carry an E8 Grade basic pay scale of Rs. 1,20,000 to Rs. 2,80,000 . Pay fixation will follow applicable DPE guidelines. Candidates appointed from private organizations will have their basic pay fixed at the minimum of the prescribed pay scale without pay protection. The actual total remuneration may vary depending on applicable benefits and company rules.

The recruitment process involves eligibility screening, shortlisting and a physical Personal Interview. Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted using the prescribed 100-mark assessment criteria. Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates will attend an interview in physical mode. Coal India will publish the interview shortlist on its official website and subsequently communicate the interview date, time and venue to shortlisted candidates through email. Eligible outstation applicants called for interview may receive reimbursement of travel expenses by the shortest route, up to Economy Class Air fare or AC 2-tier train fare, subject to the conditions mentioned in the notification. Original tickets or boarding passes are required for reimbursement. The amount will be credited to the candidate's bank account. Reimbursement will not be provided if the candidate is not interviewed because of ineligibility or failure to produce the necessary documents.

Selected candidates may be required to serve in Coal India Limited or its subsidiaries anywhere according to the organization's requirements. Appointments are subject to medical fitness and other applicable verification conditions. Selected candidates will be placed on probation for one year.
