Eligibility Criteria

Nationality: The applicant must be a citizen of India. Essential Qualification: SSC/Xth/Matriculation or equivalent. Desirable Qualification: Intermediate/XIIth Class pass. Job Requirement: Physical maintenance of records of the section, general cleanliness and upkeep of the section, carrying files and documents to other sections, photocopying, delivering the dak, opening and closing the section/room, dusting of furniture, preparation and supply of tea/coffee to officials/guests, and any other work assigned by superior officers. Mere possession of the essential qualification does not entitle a candidate to be called for the written examination. A Screening/Selection Committee may adopt its own criteria to shortlist candidates. Candidates working on regular/permanent posts in Government Departments, Autonomous Bodies or PSUs must upload a 'No Objection & Vigilance Certificate' (Annexure-X

Salary/Stipend

Pay Level: Level 1 as per the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (Rs. 18,000 - 56,900). Total Emoluments: Approximately Rs. 40,000/- per month, calculated on the minimum of the scale including HRA in a Class 'X' city. Allowances: Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA) and other allowances admissible to central government employees and made applicable to CSIR. Council employees are also eligible for accommodation as per CSIR allotment rules, depending on availability, in which case HRA is not admissible. Other Benefits: New Pension Scheme (NPS), reimbursement of medical expenses, Leave Travel Concession (LTC) and career advancement opportunities as per extant CSIR rules. Probation: 2 years from the date of joining, which may be extended or curtailed at the discretion of the Competent Authority.

Age Limit (as on 04-11-2026)

SC/ST: 5 years OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years PwBD (UR): 10 years PwBD (OBC): 13 years PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years (maximum age of a PwBD applicant on the closing date must not exceed 56 years) Ex-Servicemen (UR): 3 years after deduction of the actual military service rendered from the actual age as on the closing date. Ex-Servicemen (OBC/SC/ST): 6 years for OBC and 8 years for SC/ST after deduction of the actual military service rendered. Widows/Divorced Women/Women judicially separated and not remarried: Up to 35 years (UR/OBC) and up to 40 years (SC/ST). Any other age relaxation is as per extant GoI/DoPT/CSIR recruitment rules. SC/ST/OBC (NCL) age relaxation is available only for posts reserved for the respective category. Candidates applying against posts not reserved for them are treated on par with unreserved candidates, though fee exemption still applies to eligible candidates.

CSIR NCL MTS Recruitment 2026 : Application Fee Details

UR/OBC/EWS Candidates: Rs. 500/- (plus processing fee/transaction charges, wherever applicable) Women/SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen Candidates: Nil Payment Mode: Online through RuPay Debit Card, Credit/Prepaid Cards, Net Banking, UPI, Wallets, NEFT and SBI Branch Payment only. The fee is non-refundable under any circumstances and cannot be adjusted against any other examination or selection. Payment attempts are limited to a maximum of six. CSIR NCL MTS Recruitment 2026 : Selection Process & Exam Pattern

A Competitive Written Examination will be conducted for all provisionally eligible candidates. The final merit list will be prepared only on the basis of performance in the written examination, followed by document verification. Mode: OMR based or Computer Based objective type multiple choice examination. Duration: 2 hours. Standard: Class 10th. Medium: Questions are set in both English and Hindi, except the questions on English Language.
