Delhi University Faculty Recruitment 2026 - Apply Online for 86 Associate Professor & Professor Posts

The 56 Associate Professor vacancies (Advt. No. R&P/321/2026) are distributed across departments as follows: Of the total 56 Associate Professor vacancies, 4 posts are reserved for PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities) candidates: 1 in Hindi (VI), and 2 in Philosophy (1-LD, 1-VI). PwBD reserved posts are open to candidates of any category - UR/SC/ST/OBC/EWS.

The 30 Professor vacancies (Advt. No. R&P/322/2026) are distributed across departments as follows: Category abbreviations used: UR = Unreserved, SC = Scheduled Caste, ST = Scheduled Tribe, OBC = Other Backward Classes, EWS = Economically Weaker Sections, PwBD = Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (VI = Visual Impairment including blindness and low vision, LD = Locomotor Disability including leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims, and muscular dystrophy).

Eligibility requirements differ between the two posts, both requiring a PhD as a mandatory qualification, along with differing levels of teaching/research experience and research score. For the disciplines of Arts, Commerce, Humanities, Law, Social Sciences, Sciences, Languages, and Library Science, candidates must fulfil all of the following: A relaxation of 5% (from 55% to 50%) at the Bachelor's and Master's level is allowed for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/PwBD (VI and LD categories) candidates, and for PhD degree holders who obtained their Master's degree prior to 19 September 1991. Only publications in the UGC-CARE list or SCOPUS-indexed journals are considered, subject to the UGC-CARE list's discontinuation cut-off of 11 February 2025. Selected Associate Professors will be placed in Academic Pay Level-13A of the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix, and selected Professors will be placed in Academic Pay Level-14 , both carrying UGC pay scales plus admissible allowances. Discretionary advance increments may be awarded to candidates entering with higher merit, a high number of quality research publications, and relevant experience, at the discretion of the competent University authority based on Selection Committee recommendations.

Selection for both posts follows a screening-and-interview process based on Academic/Research Score: The Screening Committee prepares a list of all candidates in descending order of research score. Candidates must meet the minimum required research score - 75 for Associate Professor, 120 for Professor - calculated based on research papers, publications, ICT/e-content contributions, research guidance, patents, policy documents, awards/fellowships, and invited lectures, as per the detailed scoring matrix in the Screening Guidelines. A minimum of 30 candidates for the first vacancy, and 10 candidates for every additional vacancy in each category, are called for interview, based on rank in the screening list. Applicants seeking reservation benefits under SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/EWS/PwBD categories must upload the necessary category certificates in the Government-prescribed, digitally verifiable format, of the current financial year where applicable. PwBD candidates must have a disability of not less than 40% and must upload a valid Disability Certificate. Shortlisted candidates called for interview must bring original testimonials/certificates along with valid photo ID (Aadhaar/Voter ID/Driving License/Passport), plus self-attested photocopies of qualification, experience, and category documents.
