The Office of the Director of Land Records & Surveys, Assam, issued an extension notice on 21 October 2026 , allowing eligible candidates additional time to submit online applications for the 579 Land Record Assistant vacancies.

The recruitment includes 579 Land Record Assistant vacancies under the amalgamated establishments of District Commissioners' offices in Assam, excluding Sixth Schedule areas. The notification also identifies 16 posts reserved for persons with disabilities and 6 posts for Ex-Servicemen. These reservations are indicated separately and should not be added to the 579 total vacancies.

Applicants must have passed the required RCCC training examination and possess the prescribed computer and typing skills. Candidates must have completed the six-month Recorders Certificate Class Course (RCCC) training at the Assam Survey & Settlement Training Centre, Dakhingaon, Guwahati. They must have been declared proficient in both Survey and Settlement subjects through an official result declared by the Director of Land Records & Surveys etc., Assam. The proficiency requirement must have been fulfilled before the commencement of Government Notification No. LA&A/429557/158 dated 13 August 2026. Candidates must satisfy both the English typing requirement and the prescribed Assamese or Bengali typing requirement. These skills will also be assessed through the selection process.

Candidates must be between 21 and 40 years as on 1 January 2026, subject to the applicable age relaxation provisions for reserved categories. Age will be determined using the Class X or Class XII examination admit card, pass certificate or marksheet issued by a recognized Central or State Board/Council, provided the document clearly mentions the date of birth or age.

The Land Record Assistant post carries a Pay Band-2 scale of Rs. 14,000 to Rs. 70,000, with Grade Pay of Rs. 6,200 , along with allowances admissible under the rules of the Government of Assam. The notification specifies the pay scale and grade pay but does not provide a separate in-hand salary calculation.

Selection will be based on a 100-mark examination consisting of an 80-mark objective written test and a 20-mark practical computer skill test, followed by document verification. The written examination will contain objective-type multiple-choice questions, with negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer . The 20-mark practical skill test will assess computer proficiency and typing ability in English and Assamese or Bengali. Candidates who qualify in the written examination and are shortlisted by the Selection Board will be called for this test. The final merit list will be prepared using the combined marks obtained in the written examination and skill test, subject to securing the prescribed minimum qualifying marks in both components and satisfying the eligibility requirements during document verification.
