Eligibility for DCI Recruitment 2026 depends on the position. Trainee Marine Engineer and Trainee Electrical Officer posts require relevant engineering qualifications, while NCV Trainee requires 10th pass and approved pre-sea GP Rating training. Fleet Personnel applicants must possess the prescribed maritime competency certificates or relevant professional experience. Candidates must have completed a four-year Degree in Marine Engineering from an IMU-affiliated, DG Shipping-approved or otherwise recognized institute as specified in the notification. Alternatively, candidates who have completed Graduate Marine Engineering from a recognized university after a four-year engineering degree may apply. The DCI Recruitment 2026 notification specifies an age limit of below 25 years for NCV Trainees as on the date of joining on board. It does not provide a separate general maximum age limit for Trainee Marine Engineers, Trainee Electrical Officers or Fleet Personnel.

DCI offers a monthly stipend of ₹25,000 to Trainee Marine Engineers and Trainee Electrical Officers, plus ₹600 per day as victualing allowance. NCV Trainees receive ₹10,000 per month plus ₹405 per day as victualing allowance during training. The notified training stipend is ₹25,000 per month plus ₹600 per day as victualing allowance. This is a training stipend and should not be confused with the salary payable after completion of training. Trainee Electrical Officers receive ₹25,000 per month plus ₹600 per day as victualing allowance during the training period. NCV Trainees receive ₹10,000 per month plus ₹405 per day as victualing allowance during training.

Yes. Selected Trainee Marine Engineers and Trainee Electrical Officers must provide a bank guarantee of ₹3 lakh or deposit the equivalent amount with DCI. This is linked to a five-year service commitment after the required training and the applicable competency certification or posting conditions. The notification does not prescribe this ₹3 lakh bond condition for NCV Trainees. Training periods may be extended or curtailed according to DCI or DG Shipping requirements.

DCI Recruitment 2026 selection varies between Fleet Personnel and Trainee posts. Fleet Personnel are assessed through an interview, while Trainee Marine Engineers and Trainee Electrical Officers are assessed using qualification marks and interview performance. NCV Trainee selection is based on academic and GP Rating Exit Examination marks. Fleet Personnel candidates will be selected based on interview performance. The minimum qualifying score is 50 marks out of 100. For General and OBC candidates, the minimum required marks are 40 out of 80 in the qualification component and 10 out of 20 in the interview. For SC and ST candidates, the minimum required marks are 36 out of 80 in the qualification component and 9 out of 20 in the interview.
