Pay is fixed as per the applicable pay level, along with other admissible allowances. Approximate gross salary figures are as stated in the notification. For Senior Resident posts, Rs. 1,350/- is deducted if the candidate holds only a diploma, and Rs. 2,250/- is deducted if the candidate does not hold a degree or diploma. Retired employees/pensioners engaged under this recruitment may draw their total pay without deduction, as this is not treated as re-employment under the Central Civil Services (Fixation of Pay of Re-employed Pensioners) Orders, 1986, and they can continue to draw pension and dearness relief during the contractual period.

Tenure is initially for one year, extendable up to three years (renewed yearly based on satisfactory performance), or until the candidate attains 70 years of age, or until a regular incumbent joins - whichever is earliest. The engagement may be terminated by either side with one month's prior notice, without assigning reason. If a candidate resigns without notice, one month's salary must be deposited to the ESI Account through challan.
