There are a total of 85 vacancies available for the Senior Resident posts across various departments. Grand Total Vacancies (Non-Clinical + Clinical & Super Specialties): 17 + 68 = 85 vacancies. As per relevant rules, 4% reservation is provided for PWD if vacancy is 100 (subject to rules).

The upper age-limit for appointment as a Senior Resident in broad specialties shall be forty-five (45) years : Provided that for the subjects of Anatomy, Biochemistry, and Physiology, the upper age-limit shall be fifty (50) years as on the date of interview. Age relaxation is applicable as per Central Government rules in force.

In addition to the above cited consolidated remuneration, Senior Residents under the Residency Scheme (Clinical and Non-clinical) will be entitled to transport allowance and DA on transport allowance as per relevant rules from time to time. In the case of non-medical candidates, the Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) will be deducted from the above-mentioned consolidated remuneration.

Mode of Payment: A Demand Draft for Rs. 500/- (as applicable) in favour of ‘ESI Fund Account No. 1’ drawn on any scheduled bank payable at Kolkata has to be submitted along with the application form at the time of document verification cum walk-in interview. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

The engagement is initially for a period of one year, extendable up to a total period of three years subject to satisfactory performance. Private practice of any kind is not allowed. Selected candidates must execute a contract on a stamp paper of Rs. 100/-. On engagement, Senior Residents are required to deposit a security of Rs. 32,000/- through Demand Draft in favour of ESI Fund Account No. 1 at the time of joining. Residential accommodation/quarter will be provided subject to availability; if provided, House Rent Allowance (HRA) will not be allowed. Candidates must attend emergency duties as well as round-the-clock floor duties in shifts as assigned.
