• Valid, verified DigiLocker account (mandatory for Indian nationals)
• Recent passport-size photograph (as per specified format)

• Valid photo ID proof (Aadhaar, passport, PAN, voter ID, or driving licence, as accepted by GOAPS)
• Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwD), where applicable
• Qualifying degree/mark sheet details
• Valid email address and mobile number for OTP verification

How to Apply for GATE 2027 Online

• Visit the official GATE 2027 website, gate2027.iitm.ac.in.
• Click on the "Apply Online" / GOAPS link on the homepage.
• Register using a valid email address and mobile number to generate your login credentials.
• Complete the DigiLocker verification step (mandatory for Indian nationals).
• Fill in personal, academic, and communication details in the application form.
• Upload the required photograph, signature, and photo ID as per the specified format.
• Select your test paper(s) up to two, if choosing an approved combination.
• Pay the application fee online through the available payment modes.
• Review all entered details carefully, then submit the form.
• Download or save the confirmation page/printout for future reference.

Important Instructions for GATE 2027 Candidates

• Create or update your verified DigiLocker account before the application window opens, since this step is now compulsory.
• Double-check personal details against DigiLocker records mismatches can delay or affect registration.
• Keep photograph and signature files ready in the exact size and format specified by GOAPS to avoid upload errors.
• Note that a late fee applies for applications submitted after the standard deadline but within the extended window.
• Regularly check the official GOAPS portal for updates on admit card release, correction window dates, and exam city allotment, since these were not available at the time of writing.
• Review the revised syllabus for your chosen paper(s), especially if applying for the new Robotics and Automation paper.
