Note: Educational qualification, age limit, and category-certificate validity are all reckoned as of the last date of application, 12 October 2026. Candidates must have completed OTR registration on OJAS before filling the application.

Reserved-category vacancies are applicable only to candidates who are original residents of Gujarat and belong to the respective reserved category. If no eligible woman candidate is available for a women's reserved post, it will be filled by a male candidate of the same category. Posts not reserved for women are open to both male and female candidates on merit.

The candidate must be a citizen of India, or possess nationality as provided under Rule-7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967. Important: Candidates lacking a valid computer-knowledge certificate may still apply, but must submit proof of passing a basic computer knowledge test before appointment; failure to do so will lead to cancellation of selection. Candidates without Gujarat Nursing Council registration must obtain it before appointment.

Note: Candidates already in Gujarat Government service may get relaxation in the upper age limit as per the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967. Reserved-category candidates applying against unreserved posts get no age or other relaxation.

Age Relaxation

Regularization after 5 years remains subject to the outcome of SLP No. 14124/2012 and SLP No. 14125/2012 pending before the Supreme Court, as stated in the official notification.

Selection is through a single-stage competitive written examination (MCQ), conducted in two papers as per the Health & Family Welfare Department's exam rules: Each paper has 100 multiple-choice questions of 1 mark each. Paper I may be answered in Gujarati or English; Paper II is in Gujarati only. Negative marking: ¼ mark deducted for each wrong answer. Qualifying standard: Minimum 40% separately in Paper I and in Paper II, for all categories. The merit list is prepared on the combined marks of both papers, for candidates who clear both qualifying standards. Document verification is called for approximately twice the number of vacancies per category, based on provisional merit. A provisional answer key is published after the exam, followed by a final answer key after considering objections; cancelled questions are handled on a pro-rata basis. Fee is payable online only (debit card, internet banking, UPI or wallet) plus applicable transaction charges. No refund is given to candidates who appear in the exam or whose applications are rejected.
