The number of vacancies is tentative and may be increased or decreased by the Commission.

Candidates must possess the following qualifications as of the closing date of the online application: A good academic record with at least 55% marks , or its equivalent under the applicable grading system, in a Master’s degree in Anthropology from a recognized Indian university. An equivalent degree from a foreign university recognized by the Government of India is also acceptable. Candidates must have cleared the eligibility test for Assistant Professor, such as NET conducted by UGC or CSIR , or a similar test accredited by the State Public Service Commission. NET, SLET or SET will remain the minimum eligibility requirement, subject to the exemptions provided for eligible Ph.D. degree holders under the applicable rules. The age limit prescribed for HPPSC Assistant Professor Anthropology Recruitment 2026 is: A relaxation of five years in the upper age limit is admissible to eligible bonafide candidates belonging to the following Himachal Pradesh categories, subject to the conditions specified in the notification: SC of Himachal Pradesh ST of Himachal Pradesh OBC of Himachal Pradesh Wards of Freedom Fighters of Himachal Pradesh Persons with disabilities of Himachal Pradesh Age relaxation for Himachal Pradesh Government employees and Ex-Servicemen of Himachal Pradesh will be provided according to the applicable government instructions. Candidates of reserved categories belonging to other states will be treated as unreserved candidates.

The recruitment and engagement will be governed by the Himachal Pradesh Government’s scheme for the engagement of job trainees on a fixed monthly amount.

The examination fee must be paid online using a debit card, credit card, UPI or another prescribed digital payment method. The fee, once paid, will not be refunded or kept in reserve for another examination.

The HPPSC Assistant Professor Anthropology selection process includes the following stages: Paper I – Objective Type Screening Test Paper II – Descriptive Subject Aptitude Test Document Verification Personality Test Paper I will be conducted as a Computer Based Test or offline screening test. It will carry 100 marks and have a duration of one hour. The detailed syllabus for Paper II will be uploaded separately on the official HPPSC website. One-fourth of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for every incorrect answer in Paper I. If more than one answer is marked, it will be treated as incorrect and the same penalty will apply. Candidates who do not want to answer a question must select option “E”. The notified examination station is Shimla . However, HPPSC may change or allot a different examination centre depending on administrative requirements and the availability of computer test laboratories.

Eligibility regarding age and qualifications will be determined as of the closing date of the online application. Applications submitted through any mode other than the HPPSC online portal will not be accepted. An application without the prescribed photograph or signature will be rejected. Candidates must upload clear, readable and valid supporting documents. Government employees in regular service must produce a No Objection Certificate when required. Original documents must be produced during document verification or the Personality Test. E-admit cards will be available online and will not be sent by post.
