HPPSC Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online for Assistant Director, Scientific Officer Posts

A total of 2 unreserved vacancies have been advertised across two separate notifications for the Directorate of Forensic Services.

Note: Any research work conducted specifically for the completion of a Ph.D. degree shall be counted towards the total required experience of three years. Desirable Qualification: (i) Ph.D. Degree in one of the above subjects. (ii) Knowledge of customs, manners, and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for engagement in the peculiar conditions prevailing in the Pradesh.

The age of candidates must be between 18 to 45 years, reckoned as on 01-01-2026. Five years relaxation in the upper age limit is admissible only to Bonafide S.C. of H.P. / S.T. of H.P. / O.B.C. of H.P. / W.F.F. of H.P. / Persons with disabilities of Himachal Pradesh, provided there is a post reserved for these categories. For H.P. Govt. employees and Ex-Servicemen of H.P., age relaxation applies as per Government instructions.

The examination fee is uniform and charged from all candidates irrespective of category or gender. Payment must be made online via Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI, or other online digital modes on or before the closing date. Fee once paid is non-refundable.

Stage 1: Objective Type Screening Test / Descriptive Subject Aptitude Test (Paper-I and Paper-II) Stage 2: Personality Test

The selection involves two written papers conducted on the same day in two sessions: Paper-I (Objective Screening Test): 1 hour duration, 100 marks, consisting of MCQs on General Knowledge of Himachal Pradesh (30 Marks), General Knowledge of National and International Affairs (30 Marks), Hindi language (20 Marks), and English language (20 Marks). Negative marking of 0.25 marks applies for wrong answers, unattempted questions, or blank circles (using option 'E' to avoid negative marking). Paper-II (Descriptive Subject Aptitude Test): 3 hours duration, 120 marks, based on the syllabus to be decided by the Commission. Minimum pass marks are 45% for General category and 40% for reserved categories.

Once submitted, candidates cannot make corrections or modifications to the application through the portal. Online Recruitment Applications once submitted allow no changes except category changes as per Rule 5(iv) of the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (Procedure and Transaction of Business) Rules, 2023.
