IISc Bengaluru has announced 30 Junior Security Assistant vacancies on a contractual basis in its Security and Fire Fighting Department.

Candidates must have passed SSLC/Matriculation or an equivalent examination and satisfy the prescribed military, Agniveer or CAPF service-background requirements. A valid two-wheeler driving licence is also compulsory. Important Agniveer Provision: The four-year service and discharge requirements are subject to the expressly notified exception for first-batch Combatant Agniveers who have not yet completed their engagement. Candidates applying under this provision should follow the supporting-document requirements of the application portal. Applicants must possess a valid two-wheeler driving licence. IISc specifically instructs candidates to upload the licence in the "Any Other Relevant Certificates" field of the online application portal.

The prescribed maximum age limit is 30 years as on the last date of receipt of applications , with relaxation as per applicable Government of India norms. The recruitment notification does not provide a separate category-wise age-relaxation table. Eligible candidates should refer to the applicable Government of India rules and the supporting documents required for claiming relaxation.

Selected Junior Security Assistants will receive Rs. 35,000 per month as consolidated remuneration under the contractual engagement.

The engagement is initially for one year on a contractual basis and may be renewed annually up to a maximum of five years, depending on satisfactory performance and IISc requirements. The contract tenure begins from the date of joining. For candidates previously engaged by IISc through HR Department appointments, the relevant prior service will count towards the maximum five-year contractual tenure. Important: This is not a regular or permanent government appointment. The notification specifically excludes claims for regular service benefits such as pension, seniority, promotion and the other benefits mentioned in the contractual conditions.

The selection process comprises a Physical Efficiency Test and Trade Test, followed by an Interview for shortlisted candidates. Application Screening: IISc will examine applications against the prescribed qualification, service background, age and other requirements. Physical Efficiency Test: Candidates will undergo the prescribed physical assessment. Trade Test: Candidates will be assessed in the relevant security-related skills. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. Medical Fitness: Contractual engagement will be subject to medical fitness and verification of eligibility. The selection process will be conducted at IISc Bengaluru on dates to be announced separately. Shortlisted candidates will be informed through their registered email addresses.

Selected candidates will be responsible for campus security and associated operational duties in the Security and Fire Fighting Department. Control entry and exit of personnel, visitors and vehicles at designated campus gates. Conduct regular campus security patrols. Monitor CCTV cameras, alarms and other security systems. Report suspicious activities and security incidents promptly. Respond to fire, medical and other emergencies in coordination with the department. Assist with crowd management and traffic regulation during institute events and VIP visits. Maintain security logs, visitor records and incident reports. Operate security and communication equipment. Perform assigned security duties during rotational shifts, including night shifts.

First-batch Combatant Agniveers who have not completed their four-year engagement are eligible under the notified special provision. A valid two-wheeler driving licence is mandatory.
