Candidates must possess the specific educational qualification corresponding to the designated trade as listed in the vacancy table. Qualifications acquired through Distance Learning Mode, Part Time Mode, or Correspondence Mode are not considered. The candidate must be a minimum of 18 years and maximum 25 years of age as on the last date of application. Age relaxation is applicable up to 5 years for SC/ST categories, up to 3 years for OBC (NCL) categories, and up to 10 years for PWD categories. Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing Apprenticeship training under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961 and rules made thereunder in any Govt. / Public Sector / Private Industrial Organization are NOT eligible. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PWD is applicable as per the prescribed percentage applicable to the State of Kerala, along with relevant Government guidelines.

The rate of stipend for the apprentices is as prescribed under the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 and notified by the Government from time to time. During the period of training, IREL (India) Limited will not provide any other benefit or financial assistance.

Selection of apprentices is based on a merit list drawn from marks scored in the specified educational qualification, subject to being found "Medically Fit" by IREL (India) Limited's Medical Officer. In case of a tie in marks, the higher marks of specified educational qualification will be considered, and if still tied, seniority in date of birth will be taken. Priority for selection is given in the following order: Candidates belonging to Land Affected Category (A Certificate issued by Resources Department). Candidates coming under the Mining area and from peripheral villages situated within 10 KM radius of IREL (India) Limited, Chavara unit. Wards of serving employees / Forum members. Belonging to Kollam District. Belonging to Kerala State. Others.
