Out of 205 total posts, 183 are for Assistant Professor across 27 subject disciplines, plus a separate Assistant Professor (Computer Application) post, 9 for College Director of Physical Education & Sports, and 4 for Librarian. The category-wise break-up for each discipline is given below. PHC (Persons with Health/Physical Challenge) reservation posts, if any, will be notified separately, per the notification.

Eligibility varies by post. The core requirement for most Assistant Professor disciplines is a Master's degree with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/differently-abled candidates and PhD holders who obtained their Master's before 19 September 1991), along with NET/SLET/SET or an equivalent PhD under the applicable UGC regulations. Alternate routes exist for candidates with a PhD from a foreign university ranked in the world's top 500 (QS, THE, or ARWU). Master's Degree with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/Differently-abled categories or PhD holders who obtained their Master's degree prior to 19 September 1991), OR an equivalent point-scale grade from an Indian university or accredited foreign university, in a concerned/relevant/allied subject. Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Band Level-10 of the pay matrix, with a pay range of Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400. The notification does not specify additional allowances separately.

Fee must be paid online after successful submission of the application form. Applications submitted without fee payment reflected on the form are treated as incomplete and rejected without notice.

Selection is made as per Rule 45 of the J&K Public Service Commission (Business & Procedure) Rules, 2021, as amended. There will be a written examination consisting of a single paper of 3 hours' duration with 120 multiple-choice questions. The syllabus is available on the JKPSC official website. The syllabus for the post of College Director of Physical Education & Sports will be notified separately. The examination will be held at Srinagar and Jammu centres; candidates must indicate their preferred centre, and centre allotment is at the sole discretion of the Commission.

Applicants must possess a valid Domicile Certificate of the UT of Jammu & Kashmir; certificates issued after the closing date will not be entertained. Candidates claiming reservation must possess a valid category certificate on the cut-off date; false/fake/fraudulent claims will lead to debarment from JKPSC examinations. Candidates must carry a printout of the Admit Card/Roll Number Slip, at least two recent passport-size colour photographs (not taken earlier than 01.01.2026), and a valid original photo ID (Aadhaar/E-Aadhaar, Voter ID, Driving Licence, PAN Card, Passport, School/College/University ID, or Employer ID) to the exam centre.
