This recruitment has been notified vide Notification No. KSLSA/O3/ADM/SO/2026 dated 20.07.2026, published in the Karnataka Gazette (Volume 161, Issue 140, dated 20 July 2026). It covers direct recruitment to the post of Section Officer under two separate vacancy classifications - the Residual Parent Cadre and the Kalyana Karnataka Region - issued together by the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority. Candidates are advised to submit their online application well in advance to avoid last-minute rush. Applications and fee payment can be made round the clock until 11:59 P.M. on 19.08.2026.

Within these 18 posts, horizontal reservation is provided for: Women candidates (4 posts), Rural candidates (3 posts), and Persons with Benchmark Disability (1 post, for Blindness and Low Vision, under General Merit). There is no reservation for Kannada Medium, Ex-servicemen, or Transgender candidates in this cadre as per the current notification. These 2 posts are reserved for candidates eligible under Article 371-J of the Constitution (Kalyana Karnataka/Hyderabad-Karnataka local cadre reservation), with no additional horizontal reservation notified for this cadre. Candidates must have passed LL.B (Bachelor of Laws) from a recognized University. The candidate must be an Indian citizen. A male candidate with more than one living wife, or a female candidate married to a person who already has another wife, is not eligible for appointment without prior approval from the Government. Candidates not claiming benchmark disability relaxation must be mentally and physically fit, free from any physical defect likely to interfere with efficient performance of duties. Persons permanently debarred from any examination or recruitment conducted by the Central/State Public Service Commission, Karnataka Examinations Authority, or any University are not eligible. Fee must be paid through UPI/Net Banking/Debit Card via the payment gateway on the online application. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances, even if paid for more than one application - except in the case of a candidate found to be age-barred, whose application will be rejected with the fee refunded. Applications already filed pursuant to an earlier notification will be treated as applications under this notification, subject to prescribed qualifications; such applicants need not file a fresh application.

Selection will be made through a Competitive Examination followed by an Interview . The examination will be conducted offline in OMR (objective) format, only at the Bengaluru centre. Each question has four alternative answers; candidates must select only one. 1/4th (0.75) marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. The OMR sheet has a fifth option/circle for each question; unanswered questions must have this fifth option shaded, or 0.75 marks will be deducted for that question. An additional 5 minutes is given after the last bell to shade the fifth option and avoid negative valuation. Selected candidates will be placed on the pay scale of ₹69,250 – 1650 – 74,200 – 1900 – 85,600 – 2300 – 99,400 – 2700 – 1,15,600 – 3100 – 1,34,200 , applicable to the post of Section Officer under Karnataka Civil Services norms.
