OSSC is offering for 84 Food Safety Officer posts with qualifications B.Sc, B.Tech/B.E, M.Sc, M.Phil/Ph.D, last date 11 July 2026

A total of 84 vacancies have been announced for the post of Food Safety Officer (Group-B) under the Office of Commissioner of Food Safety, Odisha. Vacancies are distributed across UR, SEBC, SC, and ST categories with women's horizontal reservation included. PwD (Persons with Disability) Sub-Category Vacancy (Total 06 Posts = out of which W-02) Special Category (Ex-Servicemen & Sports Person) Note: Candidates belonging to the Transgender community are also eligible to apply. The number of vacancies is subject to change without prior notice at the discretion of the Commission, the Requisitioning Authorities, or the Government.

Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the last date of submission of Online Application Form. Candidates must be a citizen of India, of good character, of sound health and free from organic defects, able to read, write and speak Odia fluently (with proof via Middle School/Matriculation/Class-VII exam with Odia as subject). If married, must not have more than one spouse living. Educational Qualification

Candidates must be minimum 21 years and maximum 42 years as on 01-01-2025. The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SEBC, SC, ST, and all Women candidates, and by 10 years for PwD candidates. PwD candidates belonging to SC/ST category are entitled to a cumulative relaxation of 10 years over and above the normal relaxation for their category. Candidates falling under more than one category shall be eligible for only one benefit of age relaxation, whichever is most beneficial. Note: To be eligible, candidates not enjoying any relaxation must not have been born earlier than 2nd January 1983 and not later than 1st January 2004.

Candidates are required to pay the examination fee through the online mode only via the Odisha Treasury portal linked with the online application form. Fee once paid will be refunded only to candidates who actually appear in the first stage (Preliminary Examination) of the recruitment. Applications without payment of examination fees (except SC/ST/PwD candidates) will be treated as incomplete and liable for rejection. All candidates must clearly mention their valid/active bank account details in the online application for receiving the refundable fee.

The selection process for OSSC Food Safety Officer Recruitment 2026 consists of 3 (three) successive stages – Stage I: Preliminary Examination (150 marks, CBT/OMR, 150 minutes), Stage II: Main Written Examination (200 marks, CBT/OMR, Technical Paper) + Computer Skill Test (qualifying, 50% marks required), and Stage III: Certificate Verification. Candidates failing to appear at any stage will be rejected and will not be included in the merit list. The Commission at its discretion may conduct the examination through OMR or CBRE mode. The Preliminary Examination is based on a general indicative syllabus (Annexure-C). The Main Written Examination Technical Paper syllabus for Food Safety Officer is given in Annexure-D (Section II) of the official notification. All papers are MCQ-based, bilingual (Odia and English), except Paper I of the Main Exam (language). The exam medium option once given in the online application cannot be changed. Only bonafide Indian citizens are eligible to apply; must be able to read, write and speak Odia fluently. Candidates must possess the requisite qualification on the last date of submission of Online Application Form. No hard copy / physical application will be accepted – online submission only. Examination fee is refundable only to candidates who actually appear in the Preliminary Examination. Only one online application is allowed per candidate; multiple applications will result in cancellation. Candidates applying for Senior Economic Investigator post must choose one of 13 technical paper subjects in the online form; this choice is final and cannot be changed. PwD candidates must have permanent disability of not below 40% to be eligible to apply under PwD category.
