The Education Recruitment Directorate (ERD), Punjab has released the ERD Punjab PTI Recruitment 2026 Notification for 2000 Physical Training Instructor (PTI) posts under the Primary Cadre in the School Education Department, Punjab. A total of 2000 PTI (Primary Cadre) posts are to be filled, with 650 of these vacancies reserved for women candidates. The category-wise vacancy breakup as given in the official notification is as follows:

As per Appendix 'B' of the Punjab State Elementary Education (Physical Training Instructor) Service Rules, 2023 (as amended in 2025), candidates must have passed 10+2 along with at least a two-year diploma or certificate in Physical Education , referred to as Diploma in Physical Education or Certificate in Physical Education (D.P.Ed/C.P.Ed) or an equivalent course under any other nomenclature. Candidates who are in the final year of their D.P.Ed/C.P.Ed diploma or certificate course are also eligible to apply, provided they successfully complete and pass the diploma/certificate before the final recruitment merit list date (the deadline for this is the final recruitment merit list date, not the last date of this recruitment process). Selected candidates will be engaged on a fixed pay scale as per the Punjab State Elementary Education (Physical Training Instructor) Service Rules, 2023, and its First Amendment Rules, 2025.

The application fee for ERD Punjab PTI Recruitment 2026 differs by category and must be paid online during the application process. Fee relaxation for ex-servicemen is applicable only if the candidate's post-retirement employment with the Central Government or its undertakings has been completed, or the candidate was not discharged from service on disciplinary grounds. Ex-servicemen and their dependents must submit the applicable relaxation certificate, including a Lineal Descendent Certificate (LDC) for dependents, at the time of document verification. No fee refund will be given, even in case of a wrong claim of category-based fee concession, and candidates found to have made an incorrect claim will be blacklisted from all recruitments conducted by the Director, Education Recruitment Directorate, Punjab for three years.

Selection for the PTI (Primary Cadre) posts will be based on a combined merit prepared from a written test and sports achievement weightage, as per the following distribution out of a total of 100 marks. The written test will be a single objective multiple-choice paper of 70 marks conducted at the state level. Candidates must also clear the Physical Eligibility Test (PET), which is qualifying in nature and does not carry marks in the merit calculation. Sports achievement weightage does not apply to candidates recruited under the sports quota; for these candidates, the Punjab Sportsmen Recruitment Rules, 1988, remain applicable. In case of multiple gradation certificates, a candidate can claim weightage for only one gradation certificate issued as per the revised Gradation Policy, 2023, of the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Punjab. The reservation benefit for SC, BC, and other reserved categories is applicable only to bonafide residents of Punjab. Candidates must select their claimed category carefully at the time of application, as no change of category will be permitted after submission. Candidates from a category outside the general merit list who apply online in the general category will not be permitted to switch back to their reserved category later.
