Candidates applying for SGGU Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 should note the following key dates. The hardcopy of the online-submitted application, along with self-attested certificates, must reach "The Establishment Officer (OSD), Shri Govind Guru University, Vinzol" on or before the hardcopy deadline. Applications received after this date and time will not be considered.

SGGU has announced 31 Assistant Professor vacancies (Academic Level-10) spread across 17 departments. One post is reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD – Category A: Blind and Low Vision), and several posts are reserved for women candidates as indicated below. Note: "(W)" denotes a post earmarked for women candidates, and "(A)" denotes the PwBD (Blind and Low Vision) post under Biotechnology. Reservation for Persons with Disabilities will follow the existing Government of Gujarat, Department of Social Justice and Empowerment norms.

Eligibility for SGGU Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 is governed by the UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers, 2018, University Rules, and, for technical disciplines, AICTE Notification, 2019. The core requirement applicable across most disciplines is: A Master's degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade where a grading system is followed) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. The candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC or CSIR, or an equivalent test such as GSLET/GSET/SLET/SET, OR have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016. Candidates registered for a Ph.D. before 11 July 2009 may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET

The general Master's degree plus NET/SET/Ph.D. route applies to the Disciplines of Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Languages, Social Work, and Law. Additional or alternate qualification routes are specified for the following disciplines: Candidates should refer to the full official notification and UGC Regulations, 2018, for the complete discipline-wise eligibility text before applying, as conditions vary by department.

The application fee must be paid through online mode at the time of submitting the application. The processing fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Selected candidates for the post of Assistant Professor will be placed in the Vertical Pay Range of Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400 under Academic Level-10, along with Dearness Allowance (D.A.) and other benefits as per the norms of the State Government and University rules, as amended from time to time.

Selection for SGGU Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 is based on shortlisting followed by a personal interview: Candidates are first shortlisted for interview based on an Academic Score calculated as per Table 3A of Annexure-I (out of a maximum of 100 marks: Academic Score – 80, Research Publications – 10, Teaching/Post-Doctoral Experience – 10). Mere fulfilment of eligibility conditions does not guarantee a call for interview; the number of candidates called is decided by the University based on qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed, as approved by the Screening Committee. Final selection is based solely on performance in the personal interview. Call letters for shortlisted candidates will be sent by email and also displayed on the university website. No TA/DA is paid to candidates attending the interview.

SEBC candidates must submit a valid Non-Creamy-Layer certificate for the current financial year in the prescribed format. SC/ST/SEBC/EWS/PwBD candidates must submit the prescribed certificate as per State Government norms; failure to do so will forfeit reserved-category benefits. Candidates with a foreign university degree must produce an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Providing incorrect or false information, or suppressing information, will lead to disqualification and, if already appointed, dismissal.
