Eligible Candidates: Only Ex-Service Commissioned Officers can apply. Nationality: Only citizens of India (male and female). Employment Status: Applicant must be gainfully employed. Not Eligible: Serving members of the Regular Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, GREF, Para Military and similar forces cannot apply. Candidates must be a graduate from a recognized university. Candidates must be between 18 and 42 years of age as on the date of application. Candidates must be physically and medically fit in all respects.

Commission is granted in the rank of Lieutenant, subject to fulfilling requirements laid down in TA Rule 20A. Pay and allowances are the same as Regular Army officers when embodied for training and military service. Promotions up to Lt Colonel are by time scale (subject to fulfilling laid-down criteria), while promotion to Colonel and Brigadier is by selection.

Ex-Service Officers will be screened by the Army Headquarters Selection Board (ASB) held at Directorate General Territorial Army (TA-4), Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence, 4th Floor, 'A' Block, Ministry of Defence Office Complex, KG Marg, New Delhi - 110001. Based on the total number of applications received, Army HQ reserves the right to call up a limited number of applicants for interview. Candidates who do not receive a call-up letter will have their candidature deemed cancelled. Type of exam: Only an interview is conducted (no written exam). Eligible candidates will be issued a call-up letter and sent notification by e-mail through the Territorial Army Directorate.

Candidates commissioned in the Territorial Army will undergo Pre-Commission Training as provided under TA Rule 20A. Two months' Annual Training Camp is required every year, including the first year (as applicable).

Territorial Army service is a part-time concept with mandatory two months' training every year; it does not provide a full-time career. Territorial Army duty does not guarantee pension, and service is subject to embodied service as per organisational requirement.

Ex-Service Officers must bring the following documents in original along with self-attested copies at the time of interview: Application Form IAF (TA)-9 (Revised) Part-2, filled in own handwriting All educational qualification certificates (from Matric onwards) Latest physical fitness certificate from a registered MBBS doctor Copy of identity proof with photograph (Voter ID/PAN Card/Aadhar Card/Passport/Driving License) Domicile/residential proof Certificate for proof of age (Matric/Senior Secondary mark sheet and certificate) Service certificate (for candidates employed in Central Govt/UT/State/Semi Govt/Private sector), authenticated by the head of office, along with a No Objection Certificate For self-employed candidates: an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper stating nature of employment and annual income, along with a photocopy of PAN card and a self-certified character certificat

Only Ex-Service Commissioned Officers can apply; serving personnel of Regular Army/Navy/Air Force/Police/GREF/Para Military forces are not eligible. Mere issue of an admission certificate to the Ex-Service Officers does not imply that their candidature has been finally cleared by the competent authority. No request for change of date of interview will be granted. Incomplete or ineligible application forms, and those received after 25 August 2026, will be rejected without intimation. Application forms from civilian candidates will not be accepted and will be rejected without intimation. All documents not produced for verification at the interview will not be allowed to attend the interview.
