TGPSC has announced a total of 102 vacancies for Mandal Planning and Statistical Officers / Assistant Statistical Officers across seven zones in Telangana. The vacancies are subject to variation as per departmental requirements. As per the notification, 95% local reservation is applicable to the zonal posts under the relevant Telangana government rules. Candidates must satisfy the educational qualification and age requirements specified in the official notification. The prescribed academic qualification must have been obtained by 28 October 2026. Applicants must possess any one of the following qualifications from a recognised university: Bachelor's Degree with Statistics as one of the main subjects. Bachelor's Degree with Mathematics as a main subject and Statistics as a paper in at least one year. Bachelor's Degree with Economics as a main subject and Statistics as a paper in at least one year. Bachelor's Degree with Commerce as a main subject and Statistics as a paper in at least one year. Selected candidates for Mandal Planning and Statistical Officer / Assistant Statistical Officer posts will receive a pay scale of Rs. 36,750 to Rs. 1,06,990 as specified in the official recruitment notification.

Applicants must pay the prescribed application processing fee and examination fee, wherever applicable, through the online payment gateway. All employees of Central or State Government departments, PSUs, corporations and other government-sector organisations must pay the prescribed examination fee. The selection of candidates will be based on marks obtained in an objective-type written examination conducted either through a Computer-Based Recruitment Test (CBRT) or an OMR-based offline examination. The examination mode will be notified by TGPSC. The minimum qualifying marks prescribed for different categories are as follows: Final selection and allotment will be based on examination merit, applicable reservations, order of preference and availability of vacancies. Candidates must appear in all examination papers.

The TGPSC MPSO/ ASO written examination consists of two objective-type papers: General Studies and General Abilities, and Statistics at Degree level. Each paper contains 150 questions carrying 150 marks. The question papers will be available in English and Telugu. Paper I covers General Studies, current affairs, Telangana history, reasoning and general abilities. Paper II covers Statistics, including probability, statistical methods, correlation, regression, sampling and related topics.
