CBI Special Public Prosecutor Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online

The number of Special Public Prosecutor positions to be engaged at each location is not specified in the notification; CBI is creating a panel of advocates rather than advertising a fixed vacancy count.

Educational Qualification: LLB. Enrollment Certificate as an Advocate with the Bar Council. Experience at the Bar of handling criminal matters in Sessions Courts. An unconditional willingness/consent to work on the general terms & conditions approved by the Government of India from time to time. A minimum standing of 10 years as an Advocate is required for considering an advocate for CBI Special Public Prosecutor, along with details of important criminal cases handled by the applicant. Experience in conducting trials of cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, is a mandatory pre-condition. Eligible candidates shall be required to be stationed at the place where the concerned Court is situated. No travelling allowance or reimbursement of travel expenses shall be admissible for attending the Court.

Eligibility is instead based on a minimum standing of 10 years as a practicing Advocate with relevant criminal-trial experience, as detailed in the Eligibility section above.

Applications are submitted online along with the prescribed proforma and supporting documents; only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interaction by CBI. The proposal for engagement is also subject to approval, as recorded in the prescribed proforma, from DOP/CBI, the Director, CBI, and the Learned Attorney General.

Eligible candidates shall be required to be stationed at the place where the concerned Court is situated; no travelling allowance or reimbursement of travel expenses shall be admissible for attending the Court. Incomplete applications and applications submitted offline shall not be considered. No application shall be entertained after the last date of submission.
