Qualification / Eligibility

Details
  1. Candidates wondering about the qualification and age required for this post can note that CGPSC requires a Bachelor's degree in Law from a recognized university, along with an age between 21 and 30 years as on 1 January 2026, with category-specific relaxations available. Meeting these minimum criteria does not automatically guarantee a call for the exam or interview, since the Commission can further screen candidates based on these or higher qualifications
  2. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) from a university recognized by the UGC. The post is classified as Gazetted, Second Class, and selected candidates are appointed on a 3-year probation period. Candidates must hold the required educational qualification certificate by the last date of online application; degrees awarded after the closing date will not be considered valid
  3. The standard age limit is minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years as on 1 January 2026, based on the date of birth recorded in the Matriculation or equivalent certificate. However, considering the interest of educated unemployed youth, the State Government grants local residents of Chhattisgarh a 5-year relaxation on the special upper limit of 35 years, effectively allowing local candidates to apply up to 40 years of age (this relaxation period currently runs from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2028)
  4. On top of this, additional relaxations in the upper age limit are available as follows:
  5. SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) of Chhattisgarh: 5 years relaxation on the higher age limit. Government/corporation employees of Chhattisgarh (regular, temporary, or work-charge): upper age limit capped at 38 years. Ex-servicemen of Chhattisgarh: relaxation equal to defence service period, but the resulting age must not exceed the higher limit by more than 3 years. Retrenched government servants: relaxation for past temporary service (up to 7 years), but resulting age must not exceed the higher limit by more than 3 years. Widowed, divorced, or separated women of Chhattisgarh: 5 years relaxation. Contractual employees of Chhattisgarh: relaxation equal to years of contractual service, capped at age 38. Persons with disabilities: 5 years relaxation. Shiksha Karmi / Panchayat Karmi: relaxation equal to years of service, capped at age 45
  6. Candidates should note that all relaxations combined cannot push the maximum age limit beyond 45 years, and reservation/age-relaxation benefits are available only to bonafide local/domicile residents of Chhattisgarh
