Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) is a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu, responsible for implementing the Metro Rail Project in Chennai. Below is a quick overview table of the CMRL Recruitment 2026 notification.

The CMRL Recruitment 2026 drive covers a total of 7 vacancies across five post categories. The table below lists the number of posts, consolidated monthly pay, and maximum age for each post. Note: Deputationists have the option to draw pay from their parent organization along with deputation allowance and project allowance at 10% of Basic Pay each, or draw the equivalent cadre IDA pay scale in CMRL along with IDA, HRA, and Cafeteria Allowance (31.5% of Basic Pay).

CMRL has laid out separate eligibility criteria for candidates coming from Government organizations, Metro/PSU organizations, and the Private Sector. A summary is given below. Govt Organization: Officer with 5 years' service in Senior Administrative Grade (SAG) in Railways/equivalent in GoI, or 5 years as Chief Engineer in State Govt organizations. Metro/PSU: Minimum 25 years post-qualification executive experience with at least 3 years as GM in IDA pay scale Rs. 1,20,000-2,80,000 or equivalent. Private Sector: Minimum 25 years post-qualification executive experience with at least 3 years in top management reporting directly to a Director or Board, in a company with project size of at least Rs. 500 crore or turnover of at least Rs. 100 crore in the last 3 years. Govt Organization: IRSEE officer with 5 years' service in SAG in Railways/equivalent, or 5 years as Chief Engineer in State Gov

The maximum age limit for each post is reckoned as on 01-07-2026, the date of the notification: Chief General Manager / General Manager (Electrical Systems & Rolling Stock): 55 years Joint General Manager (Architect): 43 years Deputy General Manager (Finance & Accounts): 40 years Manager (Architect): 38 years SC / SC (Arunthathiyars) / ST candidates: 5 years relaxation MBC / Denotified Communities / BC (non-Muslim) / BC (Muslim) candidates: 2 years relaxation Differently Abled Persons: up to 10 years relaxation over the prescribed limit (for direct recruitment only) Ex-Servicemen: prescribed age limit plus length of service in armed forces plus 3 years In all cases, the maximum age after cumulative relaxation cannot exceed 58 years as on the date of notification.

Application fee is applicable only for candidates applying for contract-type appointment (not applicable for deputation). Unreserved and Other Category candidates: Rs. 300/- (non-refundable) SC/ST candidates: Rs. 50/- (non-refundable, for processing charge) Differently Abled Persons: No application fee (only disability certificate needs to be uploaded) Fee must be paid via NEFT/UPI to the following account, and the payment receipt must be uploaded in the online application: Fee once paid is non-refundable under any circumstances, so candidates should verify their eligibility before making the payment.

The CMRL selection process for these posts consists of two stages: Interview: Candidates are assessed on knowledge, skills, comprehension, attitude, and aptitude. Medical Examination: The first medical examination is free of cost, borne by CMRL. If a candidate requests an extension for joining, the cost of the second medical examination is borne by the candidate. Travel expenses for the medical test are borne by the candidate. Candidates who fail the medical test are not offered alternative employment. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview; merely meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee an interview call. CMRL reserves the right to shortlist candidates and to relax or tighten eligibility standards based on the response received.

Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply. Age, qualification, and experience will be considered as on 01-07-2026. Contract appointments are initially for 2 years, extendable based on performance and requirement. Deputation is initially for 3 years, extendable up to 5 years. Contract employees may be considered for IDA Pay Scale after satisfactory completion of 2 years, subject to CMRL policy.
