The online application window for CSIR CFTRI Technician Recruitment 2026 is open from 19 October to 18 November 2026. Candidates must complete the online application, including the required fee payment, before the closing time. CSIR-CFTRI has announced 28 Technician (1) vacancies in 13 technical trades, including Fitter, Electronics Mechanic, Instrument Mechanic, Laboratory Assistant, COPA, Electrician, Carpenter and Welder. The trade-wise vacancies are given below. Of these 28 vacancies, 2 posts are reserved for Ex-Servicemen and 2 posts for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities under the applicable horizontal reservation categories. Candidates must meet the prescribed educational and trade requirements as on 18 November 2026. The minimum qualification is Class 10 or equivalent with Science subjects and at least 55% marks, along with one of the accepted trade qualifications or experience routes. Applicants must meet the Class 10 Science and 55% marks requirement and satisfy any one of the following conditions in the relevant trade: ITI certificate or National/State Trade Certificate in the concerned trade. Two years of full-time apprenticeship training in the concerned trade from a recognized institution. Three years of work experience in the concerned trade in an eligible Central or State Government department, public sector undertaking or autonomous organization, as specified in the notification. The Technician (1) post carries Pay Level 2 under the 7th Central Pay Commission, with a pay scale of Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200. The notification mentions approximate monthly emoluments of Rs. 37,260 at the minimum of the pay scale, including admissible House Rent Allowance at Mysuru headquarters. Selected employees may also receive applicable Dearness Allowance, Transport Allowance, medical benefits, Leave Travel Concession and other benefits under CSIR rules.

The application fee is Rs. 500 for candidates who are not eligible for exemption. SC, ST, PwBD, women and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted from paying the fee, subject to the required documentary proof. The fee must be paid through SBI Collect and the payment receipt uploaded to the application portal. The application fee is non-refundable. Candidates applying for more than one post code must submit separate applications and pay the applicable fee for each application.

The selection process for Technician (1) posts consists of application screening, a qualifying Trade Test and a competitive written examination. Candidates shortlisted after screening will be invited for the relevant Trade Test. Only those who qualify in the Trade Test will proceed to the written examination. The written examination consists of three papers. Paper I is qualifying in nature, while marks obtained in Papers II and III determine the final merit list, subject to the prescribed conditions. The total examination duration is 2 hours and 30 minutes. Paper I has no negative marking, while Papers II and III carry a penalty of one mark for each incorrect answer.
