Candidates must fulfill the following essential and desirable qualifications, experience, and age criteria to apply for the Consultant with Ph.D post: Age Limit: Must not be more than 50 years of age at the time of recruitment. Educational Qualification: Must hold a Master's degree in areas such as economics. Consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed) at both bachelor's and master's levels. Ph.D. Degree: Must hold a Ph.D. degree. Post-Qualification Experience: Must have a minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience, out of which a minimum of 3 years must be in the relevant field, for example, international trade and allied fields. The selected researcher will be paid a consolidated pay in the bracket of Rs. 1,45,000/- to Rs. 2,65,000/- per month, depending upon their qualification and experience, and as per the order of the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. The appointment is purely on a contractual basis for a period of 1 (one) year, which can be extended after a review of performance and the requirement of the Centre. The position will be posted at the CWS Office, NAFED House, Ashram Chowk, New Delhi.

The Centre for WTO Studies (CWS) is an independent think-tank conducting research and training programmes on the WTO and related matters. The Centre regularly assists the Government of India in international trade negotiations, disputes, and policy matters. The engaged Consultant with Ph.D will undertake research activities, contribute to trade negotiations and policy matters, prepare background material on important WTO issues, and assist in WTO-related committees, ministerial conferences, and international forums.

The selection process involves the evaluation of applications received through the official online link. Fulfilling the minimum qualifications does not entitle an applicant to be called for the recruitment process. In case of a large number of applicants, IIFT reserves the right to shortlist applicants in any manner considered appropriate. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted via email for the second round, which comprises a written test and an interview. The written test will assess the candidate's competence and skills in international trade, economics, and economic diplomacy. Candidates attending the interview must make their own arrangements for travel and stay.

A candidate applying for the position must be a citizen of India. No reasons for rejection of applications will be communicated in any case. The number of posts advertised is indicative; the Centre/IIFT reserves the right not to fill up the posts and may increase or decrease the number of posts at any point in time.
