A total of 120 vacancies are available - 60 for Design Trainee and 60 for Management Trainee - distributed across the following disciplines and categories. Note: The vacancies indicated are inclusive of backlog vacancies (SC - 2; ST - 5; and OBC-NCL - 5). SC - Scheduled Caste; ST - Scheduled Tribe; OBC(NCL) - Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer); EWS - Economically Weaker Sections; UR - Unreserved.

Nationality: Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply. Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Technology or its equivalent, acquired on a Regular/Full Time basis from a recognized University/Institution in the country under the 10+2+4 pattern (10+3+3 in case of lateral entry), in the disciplines/eligible branches notified for each post. Candidates possessing an Engineering Degree in any discipline/branch other than those notified are not eligible to apply. Upper age limit: candidates should not be above 28 years as on 14-08-2026 for UR & EWS category. Candidates belonging to OBC-NCL/SC/ST/EWS categories applying under UR Category will be treated on par with UR criteria. Upper age limit relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/EWS categories will be as per prevalent Government directives. OBC candidates belonging to Creamy Layer are not entitled to relaxation under OBC(NCL) category and must indicate their category as UR in the online application. The candidate's caste/community name must appear in the Central List of Other Backward Classes; a Central OBC(NCL) Certificate not older than 6 months as on 14-08-2026 must be furnished at the time of Interview, if called for. Application fee: ₹500 (inclusive of GST) Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwBD/Internal candidates are exempted from payment of application fee. Application fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. HAL will not be responsible if a candidate deposits the fee to the wrong account or makes multiple payments. Selection comprises an Online Computer Based Selection Test (All-India basis) followed by a Personal Interview at Bengaluru. The test will be of 2.5 hours duration, comprising Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) in three parts: Part I - 20 MCQs on General Awareness; Part II - 40 MCQs on English & Reasoning; Part III - 100 MCQs on the concerned discipline. The test can be taken in Hindi or English, as per the candidate's choice indicated at the time of applying (cannot be changed later). Candidates will be shortlisted for interview based on Online Test marks, in the ratio of 1:5 to the number of vacancies in each discipline and category. The Final Merit List will be prepared with a weightage of 85% for the Online Test and 15% for the Interview . Selected candidates will be posted at any of HAL's Production, Overhaul, or Service Divisions/Research & Design Centres/Offices, based on Company requirements. Training programme duration: 52 weeks , comprising theoretical and On-the-Job training at various locations. During training, Trainees will draw a stipend comprising Basic Pay of ₹50,000 , plus Variable Dearness Allowance and Canteen Allowance. Bachelor Accommodation is also admissible during training, as per Company Rules. On successful completion of training, Trainees will be absorbed as Engineers in the Grade-II Scale of Pay of ₹50,000 - ₹1,60,000 , with eligibility for Basic Pay, Variable Dearness Allowance, other Perks & Allowances under the Cafeteria system, Company Accommodation/HRA, Performance Related Pay, Medical Facilities, Provident Fund, Gratuity, and other superannuation benefits as per Company Rules.

Selected candidates must execute a Service Agreement Bond to serve HAL for a period of 5 years (excluding the training period). In case of breach of the Service Agreement (during training or after absorption as Engineer), the candidate is liable to reimburse actual training expenses (including recruitment expenses and all remuneration/expenses incurred during training), subject to a maximum of ₹15,00,000 (Rupees Fifteen Lakhs only).

Candidates provisionally selected, including PwBDs, must undergo a Pre-employment Medical Examination before joining HAL. Candidates must have sound health and meet the medical standards prescribed by the Company; appointment is subject to a satisfactory medical report. The decision of the Company's Doctor in this regard is final and binding, and no relaxation in health standards will be allowed. For PwBDs, suitability for appointment will be decided based on Reports of the Medical Board attached to the Special Employment Exchanges for Physically Handicapped; their appointment will remain provisional until Disability Certificate verification is completed.
