The institute has advertised a total of 2 vacancies for the post of Counselling Psychologist on a contractual basis under Post Code 01.

Candidates must meet the following educational qualifications, experience, and age criteria to be eligible for the NIT Calicut Counselling Psychologist position. Master’s degree in Psychology – M.A / M.Sc. in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, or Applied Psychology; OR Master of Social Work (MSW) with specialisation in Psychiatry / Mental Health. RCI recognised professional qualification and valid RCI/CRR registration, such as: Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Clinical Psychology Professional Diploma in Clinical Psychology (P.D. Cl. Psy.) Post Graduate Diploma in Rehabilitation Psychology (P.G.D.R.P.) Two years of experience in counselling is required. Candidates should preferably be below 50 years of age.

Selected candidates will receive a consolidated pay ranging from ₹40,000/- to ₹60,000/- per month, commensurate with their experience and qualification. The appointment is on a full-time contractual basis for an initial period of one year, which is extendable based on performance and institute requirements.

The engaged Counselling Psychologists will perform the following roles and responsibilities: Counselling students. Coordinate with online wellness partner. Coordinate wellness events on campus and work with Students Guidance Cell volunteers. Submit a weekly report to the Dean (Students Welfare) Office on student caseload and well-being. Maintain professional boundaries with students and uphold confidentiality in consultations and diagnoses. Ensure information gathered during consultations is not disclosed, made public, or utilized in any way except for offering assistance to students. Conduct scheduled rotational visits across various departments, hostels, and academic facilities on campus to deliver specialized sessions.

Candidates will be evaluated based on their qualifications and experience. The selection committee may conduct a skill test and/or trade test. Shortlisted candidates will be informed by email or mobile, and selected individuals are expected to join immediately.

Original certificates and government-issued photo ID proof must be produced during the selection process; failure to present originals will lead to disqualification. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the selection process. The position is purely temporary and contractual, and candidates have no claim for any regular post in NIT Calicut. The institute reserves the right to terminate engagement with a minimum notice period of 30 days on either side.
