Northeast Frontier Railway Scouts and Guides Quota Recruitment 2026 - Apply Offline for 22 Posts

NFR has set a standard closing date for most applicants, with an extended window for candidates from specific remote regions. This section explains exactly which date applies to which candidates. Candidates residing in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Jammu & Kashmir, Lahaul & Spiti, Pangi Sub-Division (Chamba, HP), Lakshadweep, or abroad get 10 extra days and can apply till 29-07-2026 .

The 22 vacancies are spread across two pay levels under the 7th Pay Commission Pay Matrix. Each level has its own qualification and age requirements, detailed separately below. These 12 posts fall under Group 'C' and are placed at Level-2 of the Pay Matrix , carrying a Grade Pay of Rs. 1,900/- as per the 7th Pay Commission. These 10 posts fall under the erstwhile Group 'D' category and are placed at Level-1 of the Pay Matrix , carrying a Grade Pay of Rs. 1,800/- as per the 7th Pay Commission.

The age limit differs by pay level and category. Candidates should check their applicable age band carefully before applying, since the reference date for age calculation is 01-07-2026.

For the 12 Level-2 posts, NFR has prescribed a general qualification along with separate conditions for two specific categories of posts - Clerk-cum-Typist and Artisan (Technical). Pass in 12th (+2 stage) or its equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in aggregate. The 50% aggregate condition is relaxed for ST/SC and Ex-Servicemen candidates , and is not insisted upon where the candidate holds a higher qualification such as Graduation or Post-Graduation . For Jr. Clerk cum Typist / Accounts Clerk cum Typist posts (based on vacancy), typing proficiency of 30 wpm in English or 25 wpm in Hindi is essential. For Artisan (Technical Categories) posts, candidates need a pass in Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized board along with an ITI certificate . A Diploma in Engineering is not considered as an alternative higher qualification for this post.

For the 10 Level-1 posts, the educational requirement is centered around ITI training rather than a 12th-pass qualification. 10th pass along with an ITI certificate from an institution recognized by NCVT/SCVT or its equivalent. Alternatively, candidates holding a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT are also eligible.

This recruitment is exclusively for candidates with a genuine, verifiable background in the Scouts & Guides movement. Candidates lacking any of the conditions below are not eligible to apply, regardless of educational qualification. Must hold the rank of President Scout / President Guide / Rover / Ranger , OR be a holder of the Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) in any section. Must have been an active member of a Scouts organization for the last 5 years , i.e., from 01-04-2019 onwards . This must be proven through a "Certificate of Activeness" as per Annexure-C (original) . Must have attended two events at National Level or All India Railways level , AND two events at State level . Explanatory note: Activeness must be shown for at least 5 years in the recent past - covering 2019-20, 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26 - and the candidate must continue to remain active till date.

NFR has specified that a fixed number of posts are earmarked per railway division under this recruitment. This helps candidates understand where these vacancies are physically located. As per the notification, 2 posts are allotted per Railway Division across the following five divisions: Tinsukia, Lumding, Rangiya, Alipurduar, and Katihar .

NFR has clarified how the selection process and applications work when a candidate is eligible for posts at both levels. The selection for Group 'C' (Level-2) and erstwhile Group 'D' (Level-1) will be conducted separately . A candidate is allowed to apply for both Level-2 (GP Rs. 1900/-) and Level-1 (GP Rs. 1800/-) posts, but must do so by submitting a separate application for each level .

Many candidates confuse Scouts & Guides quota recruitment with regular RRB recruitment drives. Here's what sets it apart. Unlike standard RRB recruitment, which is open to all eligible candidates purely on educational qualification and a competitive written exam, this NFR drive is a quota-based recruitment exclusively for Scouts & Guides achievers . Eligibility depends heavily on verified Scout/Guide activity records (Annexure-C), national/state-level event participation, and continuous activeness - not solely on academic marks or a written test. Candidates without a genuine Scouts & Guides background, however well-qualified academically, cannot apply under this notice.
