A total of 81 vacancies are available for contractual employment in the rank of Special Police Officers (SPO) for a period of one year.

Candidates must be permanent residents of Odisha. Additional eligibility conditions include:

The selection process comprises document verification, a medical test, a physical test, and an interview. Candidates shall be put through a medical test to check physical fitness. Persons with physical deformities shall not be eligible for appointment. Candidates should be physically fit and mentally alert. They must cover a distance of 5 (five) Kilometers on foot within a period of one hour. Candidates who qualify in the medical test and physical test will appear before the Selection Board for interview.

Two recent passport-size self-attested photographs. Self-attested copies of certificates in support of age and qualification. Self-attested copy of discharge certificate. Two-character certificates attested by two different Group-B Gazetted Officers.

Incomplete applications or applications received after the last date of submission will be summarily rejected. The selection test will be held at Reserve Police Ground, Bhubaneswar UPD (opposite Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar) on 30.10.2026 at 07:00 AM. Re-employed persons shall have to wear the uniform and the badge as prescribed by D.G. & I.G. of Police, Odisha. Candidates are required to execute an agreement for re-employment on contract basis for not more than one year. No retired personal from Battalion Cadre or CAPF/Ex-Servicemen are eligible to appear the selection test.
