Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University is a state open university in Patiala, Punjab. It was established by the State Legislature Act No. 19 of 2019. Its office is at Mohindra Kothi, Fountain Chownk, Patiala.

Candidates in a reserved category must upload their Punjab State Domicile Certificate or Punjab Residence Certificate, issued by the Competent Authority. For every post, Punjabi pass up to Matric Standard is essential. The table gives the main requirement for each post. The full conditions for each post follow below the table. The qualifications for Assistant Professor are as per the UGC Regulations 2018. A candidate must meet either condition A or condition B. A. Both of the following: A Master's degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in the relevant subject, from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. A pass in the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET. Pay: Appointed candidates will be paid according to the pay scales prescribed by the UGC and/or the Government of Punjab, as amended from time to time. The notice does not give post-wise pay levels or allowances. Probation: Appointments on a regular basis will have a three-year probation period, as per Punjab Government Notification no. G.S.R.56/Const./Art.309/Amd.(18)/2016, dated 5 September 2016. Deputation: A person may be appointed on deputation basis from State/Central Government Institutions/Universities. The notice describes how candidates are selected for three posts: Assistant Professor, Superintendent and Senior Assistant. Candidates are shortlisted for the interview using the Academic Score in Appendix II (Table 3A) of the UGC Regulations 2018. The Academic Score is used for shortlisting only. Selection is based only on performance in the interview. The university decides how many candidates are called for the interview. The score caps are: M.Phil + Ph.D. 30 marks, JRF/NET/SET 07 marks and awards 03 marks. Teaching or post-doctoral experience of less than one year earns proportionately fewer marks.
