Sportspersons must satisfy the minimum sports norms and educational qualification prescribed for the respective post/level, as on the date of the notification. Candidates appearing for or awaiting results of their final examination are not eligible to apply. No relaxation in minimum educational qualification is permissible. No post is exclusively reserved for any community such as SC/ST/OBC. Recognized sports achievements must fall within the current and/or immediate previous two financial years, i.e., on or after 1 April 2024, and the candidate must be an active player. Sportspersons possessing norms for a higher pay level who apply against vacancies of a lower level will also be considered, provided they submit an undertaking that they will not claim the higher level after joining Railways.

Sportspersons must fulfil the minimum sports achievement norms prescribed for the level they are applying for, based on representation, ranking, or position achieved in recognized championships. Additional sport-specific norms apply for Cricket, Hockey, Badminton, Table Tennis, Football, and Kabaddi, including current Annual All India/World Rankings for Badminton and Table Tennis, and specific representation criteria for Cricket and Hockey, as detailed in the full notification. International Championships for recruitment purposes are categorized as Category-A (Olympic Games), Category-B (World Cup, World Championships, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympics, Champions Trophy-Hockey), and Category-C (Commonwealth Championships, Asian Championships/Asia Cup, SAF Games, USIC/World Railways Championships, World University Games).

The notification does not specify the exact monthly salary figures. Posts are recruited against Level-2 (GP 1900) and Level-1 (GP 1800) of the RS(RP) Rules, 2016, and all recruitments will be made at the minimum of the applicable pay scale.

Fee must be paid by crossed Indian Postal Order (IPO) or Demand Draft (DD) only, from any Post Office/Nationalised Bank, drawn in favour of Principal Financial Adviser (PFA), Rail Wheel Factory, Yelahanka, Bangalore-560064, payable at Bangalore. IPOs/DDs issued before the date of issue of the notification or after the closing date will not be accepted. Applications not accompanied by the Examination Fee will be summarily rejected. Candidates claiming fee exemption must submit the necessary certificate (SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/Minorities/EBC) in the prescribed format along with the application.

All eligible candidates will be called for document verification and trials. Only candidates declared FIT (securing 25 or more out of 40 marks for game skill, physical fitness, and coach's observations during trials) will be assessed further; those declared UNFIT will not proceed. Applications received after the closing date and time will be summarily rejected; RWF will not be responsible for postal or any other delay. Applications not in the prescribed format, incomplete, without signature/left thumb impression, in a language other than English/Hindi, or without required documents and fee, will be rejected.
