A total of 56 vacancies - NF Railway has notified 56 posts against Sports Quota. There is no community-wise reservation in this recruitment; vacancies are distributed by pay level, sport discipline, gender category and playing position/event as shown below. Selected candidates will be posted in the Alipurduar, Katihar, Rangiya, Lumding or Tinsukia Divisions, or at the NF Railway Headquarter, depending on the requirement of sports and vacancy availability.

Zone and Division-wise Distribution

Applicants must be citizens of India and satisfy the educational qualification, age limit and minimum sports achievement norms prescribed for the pay level and event they are applying for. For Technician-III posts filled against Sports Quota, the minimum qualification is Class 10th pass; the training period is 3 years unless the candidate holds a relevant ITI qualification, in which case it is reduced to 6 months. Candidates for both Level 3/2 and Level 1 posts must be between 18 and 25 years of age as on 01 January 2027 . Minimum Sports Norms

The notification specifies posts under Level-1, Level-2 and Level-3 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (corresponding to erstwhile Grade Pay Rs. 1800, 1900 and 2000). The exact in-hand monthly salary figures are not mentioned in the official notification; candidates can refer to the applicable Railway Pay Matrix for these levels for detailed pay information.

Candidates who appear for the selection trial are entitled to a partial refund of the application fee (after deduction of banking and other charges); bank details must be furnished in the online application to receive the refund. Minority (for fee exemption purposes) includes Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Zoroastrians (Parsis) and Jains. EBC means candidates whose total family income is less than Rs. 50,000/- per annum.

There is no caste-based reservation in this recruitment. However, SC, ST and OBC-NCL candidates must still submit prescribed caste certificates (Annexure-C and Annexure-D) and EWS candidates must submit an EWS certificate (Annexure-E) for record purposes, where applicable.

Selection is based on a 100-mark merit list comprising a Sports Trial and an Interview. Candidates scoring 25 or more out of 40 in the Trial are declared "FIT" and proceed to the Interview stage; those below 25 are declared "NOT FIT" and are not assessed further. Interviews are normally held on the same day as the trial, or the next day at the latest. For educational qualification, 6 marks are given for meeting the minimum qualification; higher qualifications attract higher marks. Minimum qualifying marks: 65 for Level-3 and Level-2 posts, and 60 for Level-1 posts. In case of a tie in marks, preference is given to the younger candidate.

Only online applications are accepted; applications or certificates sent by post will not be considered. Candidates will be considered only for the specific event/position/game for which they have the recognized sports norms. Candidates having achievement norms for a higher grade pay post are also eligible for lower grade pay posts of the same or a related event. No TA/DA/accommodation is provided for appearing in trials; candidates must bring their own kit and arrange their own stay for 2-3 days if required.
