There are 590 vacancies across 9 posts, spread over all RRB zones. RRB-wise and Railway Zone-wise distribution is provided in Annexure-B of the official notification and is not reproduced here in full — the post-wise combined totals are as follows. RRB-wise and Railway Zone-wise vacancy numbers, along with PwBD (VI/LD/HI/MD) and Ex-Servicemen backlog vacancies, are given in Annexure-B of the detailed CEN. Vacancies indicated are provisional and may increase or decrease as per the requirement of Railway administrations concerned.

Candidates must already possess the prescribed educational/technical/professional qualification from a recognised Institute/University as on the closing date, 14.10.2026. Candidates awaiting final results are NOT eligible to apply. Open and Distance Learning (ODL) qualifications from UGC-recognised Universities/Institutions of National Importance are accepted for ECG Technician and Lab Assistant Gr. II posts, subject to UGC approval.

Age is reckoned as on 01.01.2027. The lower and upper age limits vary by post, as shown in the Vacancy table above (ranging from 18–33 years to 20–40 years). Date of birth must match the Matriculation/SSLC certificate; no subsequent change will be considered. If a candidate is eligible for relaxation on more than one ground, only the maximum single relaxation applies (not cumulative). Fee payment modes: internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI only — no other mode is accepted. Applications received without the prescribed fee will be summarily rejected. Refunds are credited only to the candidate's Aadhaar-seeded bank account. EBC (Economically Backward Class), EWS (Economically Weaker Section), and OBC are three distinct categories — EBC candidates get only fee concession, not job reservation.

Selection consists of a Single Stage Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by Document Verification (DV) and a Medical Examination. The CBT is of 90 minutes' duration for 100 questions (120 minutes for PwBD/PWD candidates eligible for the Scribe facility), with objective multiple-choice questions (4 options, 1 correct answer). There is negative marking of 1/3 mark for every wrong answer. The subject/section-wise distribution is indicative and may vary. CBT questions are available in English, Hindi, and 13 regional Indian languages (Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu). These percentages also apply to Ex-Servicemen and PwBD candidates as per their community, and may be relaxed by 2 marks for PwBD candidates in case of a shortage against reserved vacancies. Candidates must fulfil all prescribed educational and technical qualifications on or before the closing date; those awaiting final results are not eligible.
