Vacancies are tentative and reported by the Ministry of Home Affairs (CAPFs) and Delhi Police; SSC does not decide or allocate vacancies state-wise, region-wise or force-wise. Candidates selected for SI posts in CAPFs are liable to serve anywhere in India. All posts except SI in Delhi Police carry All India Service Liability (AISL).

A candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal, or a subject of Bhutan (subject to a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India for Nepal/Bhutan subjects). For the post of SI in Delhi Police, male candidates must possess a valid Driving License for LMV (Motorcycle and Car) on the date fixed for the Physical Endurance and Measurement Test (PE&MT). Male candidates without a valid LMV licence are eligible only for SI posts in CAPFs, not Delhi Police.

Age is reckoned as on the crucial date, 01.08.2026. All posts except SI (Fire) in CISF: 20–25 years (born not earlier than 02.08.2001 and not later than 01.08.2006). SI (Fire) in CISF: 18–30 years (born not earlier than 02.08.1996 and not later than 01.08.2008). Departmental candidates among Constables, Head Constables and Assistant Sub-Inspectors of Delhi Police with a minimum of three years' service, not exceeding 30 years (33 for OBC, 35 for SC/ST) of age, may also apply for Open Vacancies of SI (Executive), Delhi Police-Male. Fee payable: ₹100 (Rupees One Hundred only). Women candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST and Ex-Servicemen (eligible for reservation) are exempted from fee payment. Fee can be paid only through online modes: BHIM UPI, Net Banking, Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, or RuPay Debit card. Fee payment closes 01.10.2026 (23:00 hrs); no other mode of payment is permitted. Fee once paid is non-refundable and non-adjustable against any other examination. Application Form Correction Window (08.10.2026 to 10.10.2026) charges: ₹200 for the first correction, ₹500 for the second correction - applicable to all candidates regardless of gender/category.

The examination consists of four mandatory stages: Paper-I, Physical Standard Test (PST) / Physical Endurance Test (PET), Paper-II, and Detailed Medical Examination (DME). Questions in both papers are Objective Multiple Choice Type, set in Hindi and English (Parts I–III). Negative marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer in Paper-I, 0.50 marks per wrong answer in Paper-II. Difficulty level of Paper-II is higher than Paper-I. NCC Certificate holders get bonus marks: 5% (NCC 'C'), 3% (NCC 'B'), 2% (NCC 'A') of maximum marks in each paper, as on the closing date of application. Height and chest requirements vary by post (SI Delhi Police / SI CAPFs / SI Fire CISF) and candidate category (general, hill areas, Scheduled Tribes, Gorkha, North-Eastern States, etc.), ranging from 154 cm to 170 cm for height depending on category and gender. A candidate must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal, or a subject of Bhutan. The Commission neither collects vacancies nor allocates candidates state-wise, region-wise, zone-wise or city-wise for this examination.
