UPESSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 carries 1,936 total vacancies across 42 subjects. Of these, 1,564 posts are in Co-education (Sah-Shiksha) degree colleges and 372 posts are in Women's degree colleges. The number of vacancies is subject to increase or decrease.

Age is calculated as on 1 July 2026. The upper age limit (superannuation age) for the post is 62 years. Candidates applying for the UPESSC Assistant Professor Selection Exam 2026 have to pay the examination fee according to their category. Fee can be paid online via Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking, immediately after registration, through the payment gateway on the portal. Payment confirmation from the bank is required for the fee to be considered valid; the fee once paid is non-refundable and non-adjustable against any other application, even if the application contains an error.

Selection for UPESSC Assistant Professor posts is based on a merit list prepared from a 360-mark written examination and a 40-mark interview. The written examination consists of 120 objective-type (multiple-choice) questions - 30 questions on General Knowledge and 90 questions on the relevant subject. Duration of the written examination is 2 hours. Each correct answer carries 3 marks; 1 mark is deducted for a wrong answer or multiple answers marked for a single question (negative marking).
