Candidates planning to apply for UPSC APFC Vacancy 2026 should note the following schedule. The prescribed closing date for submission of the online application is also the date for determining candidates' eligibility in every respect.

A total of 80 vacancies are notified for the post of Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner. The category-wise break-up is given below. Of the 80 posts, three vacancies are reserved for candidates with benchmark disability (PwBD), covering categories such as blindness and low vision, deaf and hard of hearing, and specified locomotor disabilities, as detailed in the official notification.

Essential Qualification: A degree of a recognised university or equivalent. Desirable Qualification: A diploma in Company Law, Labour Laws, or Public Administration. The Commission may relax these qualifications at its discretion for otherwise well-qualified candidates, and the notification specifies criteria the Commission may use for shortlisting if the number of applications is large, including preference for desirable qualifications or relevant experience. Additional age relaxation is available for Ex-Servicemen and Commissioned Officers, Central/UT Government employees, and EPFO employees (up to 5 years), as per the concessions listed in the official notification.

Fee can be paid online using a Visa/Master/RuPay Credit or Debit Card, UPI, or internet banking. The fee, once paid, is not refunded or carried forward to any other examination.

The post of Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner carries Level-10 in the Pay Matrix as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) . The post is permanent and classified as Central Board Group "A", Non-Ministerial, equivalent to Group-A of the Central Government at the corresponding pay level. The probation period is one year, and the post carries All India Service liability, meaning selected officers may be required to serve anywhere in India.

Selection to the post of Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner is made through a Recruitment Test (RT) followed by a Personality Test/Interview. The syllabus for the Recruitment Test broadly covers General English, Indian Culture and Heritage, developmental issues and the Indian economy, governance and the Constitution of India, general science and computer applications, elementary mathematics, statistics and mental ability, industrial relations and labour codes, principles of accountancy, auditing and insurance, and current events of national and international importance. A candidate must be a citizen of India, or fall under the specific categories of Nepal/Bhutan subjects, Tibetan refugees, or persons of Indian origin migrated from certain countries, as defined in the notification. All correspondence from the Commission will be made through the registered e-mail ID, so candidates must provide a correct and active e-mail address. Persons already in regular Government service must submit a declaration that they have informed their Head of Office/Department of their application.
