CSL Ship Draftsman Trainee Recruitment 2026 covers a total of 60 vacancies across two disciplines, distributed by category as shown below. The diploma must be from a University, Institute or Examination Board recognised by AICTE, or an appropriate statutory, State or Central authority. Candidates with equivalent qualifications must submit an Equivalency Certificate; without it, their application will not be considered. Candidates without the prescribed diploma qualification but holding higher qualifications such as B.Tech or M.Sc. are not eligible and will not be considered, even if they otherwise appear qualified. CSL Ship Draftsman Trainee Age Limit

Selected candidates will undergo a two-year training period and will be paid a monthly stipend, along with eligibility for extra hours of work beyond normal work hours. There will be a performance evaluation at the end of the first year, and the second year of training will be given only to successful candidates. Depending on organisational requirements, vacancy availability and individual performance, successful trainees may be considered for contractual posts for a period of 5 years, at CSL's discretion. The notification does not specify a regular/permanent appointment at the end of training, and CSL clarifies that it is not liable for regular appointment of trainees during or after the two-year training period.

The application fee must be paid online using Debit Card, Credit Card or Internet Banking between 19 August 2026 and 04 September 2026. No other mode of payment is accepted, and no refund is given after successful submission or withdrawal of an application. Candidates for whom the fee is applicable will not be considered unless the fee is received.

Selection for CSL Ship Draftsman Trainee Recruitment 2026 is entirely through a Practical Test carrying 100 marks. Candidates are required to prepare a drawing using CAD software, and the test will be held at CSL, Kochi. Only candidates who clear certificate verification will be permitted to appear for the Practical Test, which will be scheduled on a later date. The rank list for each discipline will be prepared based on marks scored in the practical test among candidates meeting the eligibility requirements; in case of a tie, relative merit will be decided based on seniority in age. CSL may relax the minimum pass mark if the number of qualified candidates is insufficient. The rank list will remain valid for up to 18 months from the date of reporting of the last candidate advised to join, or until a fresh notification is issued for the same post.
