Eligibility under the draft rules covers age, educational qualification, and a general disqualification clause: Age limit: not exceeding 30 years for direct recruits (see age limit section below) Educational qualification: a recognised Bachelor's degree in a specified science discipline, or a three-year Diploma in Engineering/Technology (see qualification section below) General disqualification: a person who has a living spouse and marries again, or marries a person who already has a living spouse, is not eligible for appointment - unless the Central Government grants an exemption where such a marriage is permissible under the applicable personal law

As per column 7 of Schedule I, direct recruits must hold one of the following: A Bachelor's degree from a recognised university or institute in a discipline specified in Schedule II of the rules, or A three-year Diploma in Engineering/Technology from a recognised university or institute Candidates with a postgraduate background in life sciences, biotechnology, agriculture, or related science disciplines fall under the eligible discipline groups listed above, provided the qualifying degree specifies the relevant subject as the main discipline.

Maximum age for direct recruits: Not exceeding 30 years Age relaxation: Relaxable for Government servants up to five years, in accordance with instructions or orders issued by the Central Government Crucial date for age calculation: The closing date for receipt of applications - and not the extended closing date allowed for candidates from remote areas such as Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Lahaul and Spiti District, Pangi Sub-Division of Chamba District (Himachal Pradesh), and the Union Territories of Ladakh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep Age limit for deputation appointment: Not exceeding 56 years, as on the closing date for receipt of applications

The draft rules do not specify a written-exam or interview scheme for direct recruitment through SSC (this will follow SSC's own recruitment process once the rules are finalised and a vacancy notification is issued).
