Income Tax Pune Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 Notification Out - Apply Online for 85 Tax Assistant, MTS and Steno Posts

Sports achievements/participation of candidates will be considered only up to the date of this notification, i.e. 10.08.2026. Any sports achievement obtained after this date will not be considered for recruitment under the sports quota.

The total number of posts across all three cadres is 85. A candidate can apply for any one or more than one of the above posts in a single application, indicating their order of preference.

Applications are invited from meritorious sportspersons belonging to the following 17 sports/games. The table also shows the number of posts allocated by sport and gender.

The candidate must be a citizen of India. The candidate must belong to one of the 17 recognized sports/games listed above and must be able to produce a self-attested certificate of eligibility (Form-1, 2, 3, 4, or 5, as applicable) from a competent authority. A candidate who cannot produce at least one such certificate along with the application need not apply. The candidate must fulfil the essential educational qualification and age limit prescribed for the post applied for.

Meritorious sportspersons will be selected as per the order of preference prescribed by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) OM No. 14034/1/95-Estt.(D) dated 04.05.1995, read with DoPT OM No. 1720781414772 dated 04.03.2024. In the event of a tie, candidates who secured a higher position or won more than one medal may be given preference. Participation in an individual event and a team event/item may be given the same preference. No additional preference is given for winning more than one medal/position. Any doubt about the status of a tournament will be decided by the DoPT in consultation with the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

As per Government of India instructions for meritorious sportspersons, relaxation of the upper age limit up to a maximum of 5 years (10 years in the case of SC/ST candidates) may be allowed. This relaxation is admissible only to sportspersons who satisfy all other eligibility conditions related to education and sports qualifications, and who furnish a certificate in the prescribed form from a prescribed authority. Application fee payable: ₹200 (Rupees Two Hundred only). The fee must be paid through online mode only, and proof of payment must be furnished with the application. Applications received without payment of the requisite fee will be treated as INCOMPLETE and rejected. The fee, once paid, shall not be refunded under any circumstances. The notification does not mention any fee exemption or concession for any category of candidates.
