IREL Tradesman Trainee Recruitment 2026 Notification Out - Apply Online for 131 Posts

Candidates must complete online registration, application submission and applicable fee payment by 9 November 2026. The examination and skill test schedules will be communicated through the registered email address and official IREL website.

IREL has notified 131 Tradesman Trainee positions across four trades. Fitter accounts for 93 vacancies, followed by AOCP, Electrician and Instrumentation. Unit Selection Rule: Candidates can apply for only one trade and one unit/location. Final merit lists will be prepared separately for each trade, category and unit.

Applicants must possess the prescribed educational qualification and two years of relevant experience in their selected trade by 9 November 2026 . Important: The AOCP post provides an alternative 10+2 Science eligibility route with Chemistry and a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. Candidates applying through this route must still satisfy the two-year relevant experience requirement. Existing employees on IREL's regular rolls are eligible under the special educational qualification route of SSC with four years of experience in the relevant trade or operation , subject to the notification's other conditions. Two years of relevant post-qualification experience is required for external applicants. Apprenticeship under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961, will be counted toward relevant experience. The maximum age limit is 35 years as of 9 November 2026 , subject to applicable category and service-based relaxations. Age Ceiling: The candidate's age after all permissible relaxations must not exceed 50 years. Reserved-category relaxation is subject to the reservation availability and conditions for the selected trade and unit. Candidates applying against unreserved vacancies must meet the applicable general eligibility standards.

Selected candidates will undergo one year of training and receive a consolidated stipend of Rs. 34,200 per month . Consolidated monthly stipend of Rs. 34,200. House Rent Allowance at the applicable posting-location rate, calculated on the minimum basic pay of Rs. 22,000, if company bachelor accommodation is not provided. Medical facilities for the trainee and eligible dependent family members as applicable to W-3 grade employees. On successful completion of training, trainees may be absorbed as regular Tradesmen in W-3 Grade, carrying the pay scale of Rs. 22,000–88,000. Eligible regular employees may receive Industrial Dearness Allowance, HRA, increments, medical facilities, leave encashment, incentives, uniforms, provident fund, gratuity and other benefits according to company rules. All amounts are inclusive of the applicable GST. The entire prescribed payment is non-refundable and must be made online through the application portal. Important: SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-servicemen/women/internal candidates are exempt only from the application fee component. They must still pay the non-refundable Rs. 354 processing fee.

The selection process consists of a Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by a qualifying Skill Test or Trade Test and document verification. Computer Based Written Examination. Shortlisting for the Skill Test in the ratio of 1:5 based on CBT merit. Qualifying Skill Test / Trade Test or Computer Proficiency Test, as applicable. Preparation of unit-wise, trade-wise and category-wise merit lists using CBT marks. Document Verification. Pre-employment Medical Examination and other prescribed verification. Final Merit Rule: Only candidates qualifying in the Skill Test will be considered for final selection. Final merit will be determined using CBT marks only. Skill Test marks will not be added to the final merit.

The written examination will be a Computer Based Test containing 150 multiple-choice questions for 150 marks . The examination duration is two hours, and there is no negative marking. Important Exam Rule: Candidates must secure the prescribed minimum qualifying percentage separately in Section I and Section II. Obtaining the required percentage in the combined total alone is not sufficient.

IREL CBT Marking Scheme

Minimum Qualifying Marks

The notification identifies two main examination sections: professional trade knowledge and general aptitude.

The CBT is tentatively planned at the following examination centres. Candidates may select two preferred examination centres. The examination authority reserves the right to allot or change centres according to administrative requirements.

Vacancies are available at IREL units in Odisha, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The initial posting location will be based on the unit selected by the candidate during the online application. Requests to change the selected initial posting location will not be entertained. Transfer Condition: After appointment, employees are liable to be transferred to any IREL unit, office or project site in India. Applicants must be willing to serve anywhere in the country.
