NIOT has notified a single vacancy under the Technician discipline of Electronics / Instrumentation, categorized as Unreserved (UR).

Candidates must meet the following essential qualification for the NIOT Technician post: 10th Class Pass (Secondary / Matric) from a recognized Board ITI course in Electronics / Instrumentation approved by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) or equivalent from a recognized institution Basic knowledge of computers Desirable: Two years of experience in the relevant field related to the job requirements is desirable but not mandatory. The upper age limit for NIOT Technician Recruitment 2026 is not exceeding 25 years, reckoned as on the closing date for online application. As the post is earmarked Unreserved, no age relaxation is available to SC/ST/OBC candidates. However, age relaxation is applicable for Government servants, Ex-servicemen, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) as per Central Government orders in force from time to time.

Selected candidates will be responsible for the following duties: Industrial panel wiring and interfacing, PCB soldering and assembly, handling of electronic instruments, assembly, testing and calibration of instruments/sensors, interfacing and panel wiring, and installation of electronic systems on board ships and offshore installations. Field testing of systems/equipment developed by NIOT onboard designated ships or platforms at sea. Wiring of DAC systems, and assembly, integration and maintenance of DAC system sub-components, electronic instruments and equipment. Pressure testing of underwater sensors and equipment. Maintenance of power supply and instrumentation lab equipment. Participation in sea trials, offshore system deployments, and survey and exploration at sea.

Selected candidates will be placed at Pay Level-2 (Rs. 19,900–63,200) in the Pay Matrix as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (VII CPC), under Group 'C', along with allowances as admissible under VII CPC.

Selection for the NIOT Technician post involves two stages: Trade / Written Test: Final selection is based purely on the order of merit in the trade/written test marks, among candidates who qualify the skill test. Skill Test: A practical test of qualifying nature. Candidates must secure the minimum cut-off mark fixed by the Selection Committee to qualify. Both the trade/written test and skill test will be conducted at NIOT, Chennai, either on the same day or on consecutive days. The syllabus, scheme of test, and schedule will be published on the NIOT website. Candidates must make their own arrangements for travel and stay, and no TA will be paid, except outstation SC/ST candidates, who will be reimbursed sleeper-class rail fare by the shortest route on production of tickets.
