JNU DOP Admission 2026-27: Selection Process

There is no separate entrance test for DOP programmes. Selection is made purely on merit, based on the candidate's performance in the Certificate of Proficiency examination in the concerned language. The process broadly follows these stages:

  • Online application submission and fee payment
  • Preparation and release of the merit list
  • Pre-enrolment registration and fee payment by selected candidates
  • Physical verification of documents
  • Final admission and registration (in person only)

Documents Required at the Time of Admission

  • Three sets of the Pre-Enrolment Form
  • Eight copies of recent passport-size photographs
  • Two self-attested copies of the 10+2 (or equivalent) certificate showing age/date of birth
  • Two self-attested copies of the Certificate of Proficiency (COP) mark sheet in the concerned language
  • A Character Certificate from the head of the institution last attended
  • Two self-attested copies of the statement of marks and passing certificate of the qualifying examination
  • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwD), where applicable, in the prescribed format
  • Original Anti-Ragging undertaking, submitted at the admission counter

Step 1: Register on the Application Portal

  • Visit the official JNU admission portal and start the online registration process.
  • Enter the required personal details, create a password, and select a security question and answer.
  • On submission, a system-generated Application Number is issued - note it down carefully, as it is required for all future logins and correspondence.

Step 2: Complete the Application Form

  • Log in using the Application Number and password.
  • Fill in the remaining sections of the form and review all entered details carefully.

Step 3: Upload Photograph and Signature

  • Upload a recent photograph and signature in JPG/JPEG format.
  • Photograph size: between 10 KB and 200 KB.
  • Signature size: between 4 KB and 30 KB.
  • There is no facility to correct the uploaded images later, so candidates should verify them before submission.

Step 4: Pay the Application Fee

  • Pay online via Net Banking, Credit Card, or UPI.
  • After successful payment, print the Confirmation Page.
  • If the Confirmation Page is not generated after payment, the transaction is treated as cancelled and the amount is refunded; candidates must then make a fresh payment.

Important Instructions for JNU DOP Applicants

  • Candidates can select a maximum of three programme choices, in order of preference; once submitted, preferences cannot be changed.
  • If a candidate is selected under a higher preference, no claim can be made for a lower preference later.
  • Submitting more than one application form for the same programme level results in the summary rejection of all such forms.
  • The candidate's name, parent's/guardian's name, and date of birth across all documents must exactly match the 10th-class or first Board/Pre-University certificate; discrepancies can lead to cancellation of candidature.
  • Furnishing false information in the application can lead to cancellation of admission at any stage, even after it has been granted.
  • No request for change of category after form submission will be accepted.
  • The University reserves the right to withdraw admission if any discrepancy in eligibility is found later.
