Full post-category-wise, RRB-wise, and community-wise (UR/SC/ST/OBC/EWS/ExSM/PwBD) vacancy splits for all 37 categories run to several hundred rows and are available in Annexure A (Post Parameters) and Annexure B (Vacancy Table) of the official CEN. Vacancies are provisional and may increase, decrease, or become nil as per Railway Administration requirements.

A candidate possessing more than one minimum educational qualification mapped to different Exam Groups can choose only one Exam Group, and must opt for posts whose qualification is mapped to that chosen group. DMS candidates whose diploma discipline isn't in the chart above must choose one of the listed Exam Groups while registering. A candidate must be a citizen of India, a citizen of Nepal, a subject of Bhutan, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or specified East African/other countries with the intention of permanently settling in India (subject to a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India where applicable).

Discipline / Exam Group Mapping

Additional relaxations apply to serving Group C/erstwhile Group D Railway staff, Quasi-Administrative office staff, and widowed/divorced/judicially separated women candidates - see Para 5.2 of the official CEN. Relaxations are not cumulative; a candidate eligible on more than one ground gets only the maximum applicable relaxation.

Age Relaxation

Selection comprises four stages: 1st Stage CBT, 2nd Stage CBT, Document Verification (DV) and Medical Examination (ME). Duration: 90 minutes (120 minutes for scribe-eligible candidates). This stage is of screening nature; the normalized score is used only for shortlisting to the 2nd Stage CBT, at 15 times the community-wise vacancy for each RRB. Duration: 120 minutes (160 minutes for scribe-eligible candidates); a virtual calculator is provided on screen. Negative marking: 1/3rd mark deducted for each wrong answer, in both stages of CBT. Minimum qualifying marks: UR & EWS 40%, OBC-NCL & SC 30%, ST 25% (relaxable by up to 2 marks for PwBD candidates in case of shortage against reserved vacancies). Candidates must possess the prescribed educational qualification as on the closing date of application; those awaiting final results are not eligible to apply. Vacancies indicated are provisional and may increase, decrease, or become nil, based on Railway Administration requirements.
