NWR Act Apprentice Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have passed the Class 10 examination or its equivalent (under the 10+2 examination system) with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (no rounding off) from a recognised Board, and must also possess a National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the notified trade, issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) or State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT). Candidates should have the requisite educational/technical qualification from a recognised Board/Government University/Institute as on the date of submission of the application; those awaiting results of their final exams should not apply. Candidates claiming SC/ST reservation must produce a caste certificate in the Central Government format at the time of Document Verification. NWR Act Apprentice Age Limit

SC/ST candidates: 5 years' relaxation in upper age limit. OBC candidates: 3 years' relaxation in upper age limit. Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD): 10 years' relaxation in upper age limit. NWR Act Apprentice Stipend & Training

Training period and stipend will be as per the extant rules and directives issued by the Railway Board from time to time; a specific stipend amount is not stated in this notification. No hostel accommodation will be provided - selected candidates must make their own arrangements during training, as per the Apprentices Act, 1961, and will be released upon completion of training. NWR Act Apprentice Selection Process

Selection is based on a merit list prepared for all candidates who apply against the notification, calculated as the simple average of the percentage of marks in Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate) and the percentage of marks in ITI , in the trade in which apprenticeship is sought. For Matriculation percentage, marks obtained by the candidate in all subjects are considered - not the marks of any single subject or group of subjects. For ITI percentage, marks mentioned in the provisional/final certificate are considered. In case two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate is preferred; if the date of birth is also the same, the candidate who passed the Matriculation exam earlier is considered first.
